PS3 Help please

I accidentlly updated my ps3 while it was on evil cobra firmware 4.87 i wasnt thinking when i clicked update to 4.88 and now my ps3 wont update and it keeps trying to update and when i try to install a different update it says file is corrupted same thing when i try to do the normal update please dear god almighty i didnt just brick my ps3

if the 4.88 update was installed, then you lost jailbreak. wait for bgtoolset to be updated and a 4.88 CFW to be released.

If you updated to 4.88 via System Update/Internet you cannot then install 4.87 CFW over it, as you cannot go to a lower firmware on OFW. It says corrupted data because the system will not accept CFW without the patch/jailbreak, which as Coro says is undone when you install OFW.

There's no way to put a definite, or even estimate timeframe on it. Both 4.88 CFW needs to be developed, as well as the flash patching tool to be updated to support 4.88.

In short: it'll be ready whenever it's ready, and not before. Just hold tight and be patient, as that's all you can do at this point.

Well, there's little point in a CFW user going for HEN before a 4.88 CFW is available. I'm on 4.87 CFW and I have no desire to go to 4.88 until a CFW is available, and even then I probably won't install straight away.
