I have the PSN PATCH can't seem to get logged in PSN. How do I activate a jailbroken PS3 with a brand new account? It seems to be the only way I can get PSNpatch to work. I can't get passed that. I can't log in wthout it telling me to update. When I go online on the PC it doesn't give me a way to activate the console and get it linked to my new account. I have donwgrade from 4.86 to 4.82. Does the internet have to be disconnected when I install PSN patch?
To activate a console you must connect to the PSN network.
Only a 4.88 firmware can connect to PSN, there are workarounds for earlier firmware versions but I recommend you avoid them, they aren't deemed safe since the 4.88 changes to PSN login API and likely to get your console and account banned.
In theory, if you install Evilnat's CFW 4.88 and disable the PSN lock, you should be able to activate the console.
In practice, to activate the console safely you could install OFW 4.88, activate the console through PSN then jailbreak with PS3 Toolset and install Evilnat's 4.88 CFW.
If you still wish to use psnpatch, install it AFTER the activation is completed once you are back on CFW.
If you wish to use psnpatch for ban protection purposes, I recommend using the psnpatch plugin rather than the app.
And if you intend to use psnpatch to install rif licenses, you need the console to be activated first.
Note that it's possible to use a fake activation file nowadays, there are available tools to create them, it can be useful when you are offline and want to install your licensed backups, but it's better to get a legit activation file via PSN whenever possible.
