I'm having trouble installing HFW on a CECH 2004 already on OFW 4.90 , i get a " no applicable data " . I tried two USB sticks . Am i doing something wrong or it's a common issue ? I can't go into Recovery because i have a knock-off gamepad .

You have to use recovery for some models. No way around it.

You will need to replace the button or jump the traces on cable. Is it the plastic button only broken or the actual switch?
 
Afternoon. I have a slim on 4.89 with HEN and i havent being able to install CFW bc of the lack of Bgtoolset. The console is CFW compatible and all is working fine, no damages, it's almost like new. I was going to install 4.90 to use the flash tools for cfw but then i read this on the new HFW readme: "Required restoration (Bluray media won't play because HFW 4.90.1 does not include these 3 files..."

So. The question is: would i lose the ability to use the BD lens altogether? i use the console to read BD discs of all kind, like movies, games and data and to use the BD drive of the PS3 to read discs on the computer by using FTP

Should i stay on 4.89 and wait on the BGToolset to be available again?

You won't lose anything. While it's true that HFW is not able to play Blu-Ray movies without HEN installed, when you aim for CFW you only need HFW for a few minutes to run the Flash Writer tool. After that, you install CFW which completely replaces the HFW - and the CFW does include all files needed for Blu-Ray playback.

* Also note that the whole section is about Blu-Ray movies, not about PS3 games from physical media. And anyway, as I said, once you have CFW installed then (assuming your Blu-Ray drive isn't physically broken and you did not install the noBD variant) discs are fully supported, for both games and movies. Heck, it'll even let you play them from BD-R.

No, if you are coming from 4.89 then you don't need to use recovery mode to use HEN.

installing the same version twice was only recommended to use flashwriter. And those models with NAND flash won't allow you to update from XMB when installing the same version number of firmware. Which was why using recovery mode has always been default for that scenario since the day 1 of PS3xploit launch
 
Hey so I updated to this version of hen or what ever, and now I have 8013013D constantly popping in, I have found a temporary fix, however it comes right back after the said fix, is there a way to fix it for good?
 
Not sure if this is the right topic to post, but I have trouble instaling any "man", Irisiman, Multiman, Webman, getting black screen every time when trying to instal... Instaled CFW without any problems, console is PS3 PHAT CHECHGO4. Trie rebooting multiple times, downloaded the lastest software from brewology ofc... Black screen every time

there is code list HERE.

that one says "Key information exchange of WPA timed out". seems to be your wifi. try a network cable if you can.
 
So, I have a ps3 super slim on HFW 4.89 with HEN 3.1.1. If I update my HFW to 4.90 and update HEN to the newest version, will I loose acces to be able to play BD discs and games? I'm so confused and idk if I'm getting the right packages or files to update

No, but if you also use webMAN MOD be sure so update it before you update HFW/HEN if you don't want to run into issues.
 
@Joonie or someone around, sorry to ping you but I want to talk about an issue going on on the new HFW or PS3HEN I'm still not sure what is the problem due to. I have noticed that all PS1 games in bin/cue format that need an anti-piracy patch won't work on PS3 models with the 4.90.1 HFW and latest HEN installed. I have tried Ape Escape, Spyro - Year of the dragon, Spyro 2 and Disney World Quest - Magical Racing tour; I Have tested both patched and unpatched versions but all of them get stucked and console freezes after the first loading phase (PS logo or first language selection). All those games worked on previous HFW and Hen so I wanted to know why now is impossible playing those games on HEN capable console. I tried also on Evilnat 4.90 CFW and they all work properly. Thanks in advice
 
I guess you are going to be right with the question, since I think the disc drive is working but was actualt changed and not remmaried.. So first I have to do that... Any tios on getting that done now

I think you are spot on with your question, did a better check and comes out that the BD isn't the original that came with the console, it was changed... first I had problems with OFC and HFW since i couldn't pass instal since error with the drive, then i took the console apart and saw that the cable was unpluged, fixed that, fast forward, instaled CFW in the end but I guess I need to remmary the BD to the console to make things work, actualy I cant install any apps ATM, tried Rebug toolbox too.. Any tips for someone with no expirience with remmary, on 4.90? BTW thank you for the fast reply
