AFAIK this issue only happens in fat systems, on slims and super slims we can update to the same firmware version from the XMB without any problem.

His issue is either caused by wrong update structure folders or GPT table

I installed in safe mode (option 6). It passed successfully without giving an error. After restarting, however, when I checked the version, everything was as before (probably it should be, pic1). I followed the instructions for enabling HEN from ps3xploit.me, making 27 attempts (clearing cookies and all) and always FAILED - pic2.

Reboot PS3 and try again.
 
Can anyone help me? I have upgraded to 4.90.1 after installing a new hard drive and I didn't have any other mods before that. I came from 4.90 ofw and now I can't figure out how to upgrade to hen or cfw to get blu ray player back. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I have cechh01 model PS3. Thanks

use bgtoolset to jailbreak. here is my guide.
 
Hey I have a question... after loading a game with webman then using r2+^ I can't get online i just get an error and that I've been signed out of psn. On ps3 slim hfw 4.90.1 hen 3.2.2 same thing before on 4.89 hen 3.1.1 am I doing something wrong? I'm not real good at a lot of this stuff but still trying so i apologize if I'm asking in the wrong place or asking something stupid.

Since FW 4.89 it is required to use a device password generated by Sony.

Hello, for some reason my usb or update thing isnt getting detected by my ps3, i have tried exFat, Fat32 Recovery Mode, Nothing Seems To Work, my Fw is 4.88 i have hen already installed but i want to go to Hfw 4.90.1, Im on an Ps3 Slim, CECH-2504B
could it be that its incompatible?

PS3 OFW only can read USB FAT32 MBR.

Your storage device may be formatted as FAT32 GPT.

Also try a different pendrive and different USB ports.

The path \PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP is case sensitive.

Remove any game disc from the Blu-ray drive.

If I recall correctly you can put the PS3UPDAT.PUP on the root of a CD or DVD too.

So I have a PS3 Slim CECH-3001B that is currently running at

System Ver. 4.88
mmCM Ver. 04.84.00
HEN 4.84

so my question is, will this update work for my unit or not?
Any other advice would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, HFW 4.90.1 will let install HEN 3.2.2 for 4.90

Install HFW 4.90 from an USB device like any other OFW.

Once 4.90 is installed, go to http://ps3xploit.me from the PS3 Internet Browser and install HEN for 4.90

Thank you for this, I have it all downloaded and prepared now.
Last question, should I download and use the new Webman MOD 1.47.44 or I can just use the existing Multiman mmCM 04.84.00?
