As the topic says I have a high pitch sound coming out on the TV speakers.
Details:
What it isn't: (As I've already checked)
UPDATE: Boot ROM BIOS dump verifies the same as my working similar model PS2 so probably not bios corruption.
UPDATE: Also removed the DAC (digital to analogue converter) IC (IC517) from the motherboard and the sound is still present through the optical audio port.
UPDATE: Was the sound chip. I removed it with a hot air station and installed one from another faulty PS2 motherboard and the issue went away. I installed the suspected faulty sound chip back onto the other faulty PS2 motherboard, the one the donor came from and it now has the same sound issue.
Details:
- Not always there but it is about half of the time. Can be there one boot and gone the next if you are rebooting within seconds of the last boot.
- It shows up when the PS2 browser menu is loading and goes away after the game\dvd\hombrew app boots.
What it isn't: (As I've already checked)
- TV
- AV lead
- Power supply
- Syscon daughter-board (GD-013)
- Disc drive pcb (GM-043)
- BIOS
- DAC (IC517)
