This will be a thread that will get updated with any new revelations. So get to testing and share with us your experiences in getting other emulators and homebrew running. There will be many misses, but we already have had SNES running. So lets not stop there.

Homebrew that is working

Homebrew that has been Tested by User's and failed
(Multiple Test are always good)

  • .

  • .

    • Most PSP Homebrew will not work. You will have least success with PSP Homebrew on the PS3 currently.

I'll test psx homebrew but I've found no way to convert psp homebrew to remaster

These homebrew have been playable on PS3 CFW (good candidates to try)

Our ps1 downloads (i am sure there is more out there as well not sure if we have entire catalog or not)

You need to rebuild it to prx file. Then sign eboot, and finally make ISO.

Hmm I see. I don't really know what you mean with the first step since I've never dealt with PSP,and that the homebrew I'm trying to install (retroarch) does have a "kernel_modules.prx" file, but I'll search some infos about that. Thanks for the info

Welp, I just tested Marilyn. The game doesn't have any TitleID since it's homebrew so I gave it SLUS00000 as TitleID. The game boots but gives a black screen, even before reaching the Playstation logo :/

On PS3 CFW we have multiple options for booting PS2 .
I want to say this one only worked using Cobra's ISO method but not 100% sure on that, been a couple years ago.

Perhaps @Joonie can give some insight on if anything special was done with SSNES Station (any trial and error or did it boot rightaway?)

retroarch for PS3? that won't work on OFW

Marlyn should work if you convert it properly. It's a bit PITA.

@aldostools wrote a tuto somewhere here made it a bit easier.

There is a PSP RetroArch and i think that is what he is speaking of. but PSP homebrew is not very friendly (still the case from your test if any?)

I never tested PSP homebrew but I'll take a look now I just found Retroarch for PSP

@kozarovv confirms that PSP emu is very limited for homebrew and retroARCH won't load cores.

Do PS2 snes station provided by @habib can be installed without rip and signed dat or is just like any other ps2 inject (need placeholder, etc)?

EDIT: Finally made it work! I was using another snes station source and it was working. I wonder if we could make PGEN (genesis emulator) work the same way...

Made an interesting comment here in regards to TurboGrafX and Neo Geo Emulation.

Not sure if there was much homebrew on either platform but that might be fun hole to explore as well. Either way interesting.

The truth is that I tried the emulators of Nes and Sega of Ps2 and also the multiloader, replacing the file slus200.90 but in none of them I was successful. Only black screen after the Playstation 2 logo.

I extracted a PKG from metal slug to inject a rom inside. The rom inside was in a ccf format, which I tried to extract with a python script but it didn't work... I will try with psp neogeo games tho

This is what I get with another tool :

CD-MAME

I've given this a try unsuccessfully.

Tried encrypting, then signing the ENC then packaging and signing the package. Boots then goes black, controller turns off and then jumps back to XMB with error 80028F17.

Tried encrypting, then NOT signing the ENC but rather just packaging and signing the PKG. Gives same result. Maybe I am missing something somewhere or maybe OPL type is not compatible.

EDIT: There are also some other emulators in iso format on that site that may be worth a look.
