PS3HEN How can I remove and reinstall HEN?

Hello everyone. A friend of mine gave me his PS3 with HEN, but its apparently some weird ass spanish-language HEN he got from Mega that came preinstalled with a store that you cant remove, and I'm gonna wipe the PS3 clean.

So what am I supposed to do? It's currently on version 4.87, and it's a CECH-3001A. I wanna be super certain of what I have to do so as not to brick this PS3.

Would the proper steps be factory reset from XMB, flash 4.87 OFW (from XMB), flash 4.87 HFW (also from XMB) and then install HEN? Remember the main reason I wanna do this is to get rid of the old bloatware HEN and install the official one

That would do it, but I think simply reinstalling HFW followed by official HEN would be enough. But, if you want a clean slate (good idea IMO) then factory reset will format the hard drive removing everything.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'm gonna do a clean slate; just started the factory reset and says it's gonna take 9 hours lol, so guess it's waiting time

There may or may not be a faster and/or more efficient way to do it, but at least you'll know you'll be starting fresh with a clean system

In case anyone looking for help and wants to do the same thing comes across this post

I ended up cancelling the full format. Then the PS3 asked me to format the disk, it did so quickly and that was it. I don't know how safe it is to do that, but nothing bad happened, though I did cancel at 5%.

Simply do a Quick Format, NOT full format. It may be cleaner to do Full format but it takes way too long and is rather overkill for the same result.

So yeah, I flashed OFW from XMB, did a Quick Format, then flashed HFW from Recovery Mode and installed HEN as normal. No issues whatsoever, and I have a sparkling clean system too. hopefully this will be of help to someone out there
