PS3 How does the ps3 play ps1 disk games?

So I just started playing alien ressurection (ps1) on ps3 slim (jailbroken) and ran into that pesky door bug on level 3. I was wondering if there is a solution to this, if I actually bought the ps1 disk and put it in the ps3 would it fix the issue? Is this caused by the ps1s copyright system? Or is this a memory issue? Can it be fixed by playing it on another emulator? How does the ps3 play ps1 disks anyway? does it just read the disk or does it emulate it somehow?

Try different emulator.

PSX, PS2 and PSP are emulated and/or virtualised. Depend of PS3 model and emulator.

ODD is emulated or not, depend of emulator.

What emulators can I try?
For PS1, you have two options: ps1_emu and ps1_netemu. The first is used for PS1 discs, while the latter is used for PS one Classics from the PS Store. Using webMAN MOD you can choose the default emulator to choose in settings; alternatively you can hold either :but l2: or :but r2: while mounting the game to choose ps1_emu or ps1_netemu, respectively.

Since by default it uses ps1_emu, try using ps1_netemu and see what results you get :)

Ok so I loaded it up using the ps1_netemu it seemed to have no affect other than changing some settings on startup of the game if anyone has any other information about this issue for this game that would be great but for now I don't know what's causing this error. I've seen some other threads about this and it seems to be caused by some kind of memory issue since this game pushes the ps1 so hard the developers seemed to have used some kind of shortcut or something... Thanks for the reply though!
