PS2 How to fix blurry display of PS2 on a CRT TV.

I have a PS2 slim SCPH 9004 with Modbo 5.0. I use composite cables and CRT tv as a display. Games such as SmackDown:Pain ,God of War have no problem. But MGS3: S ,Call of Duty: World at War, GTA:SA have very high sharpness (blur) . I have;to manually reduce sharpness but still I get a very shitty display .I disabled modchip and booted with FUNTUNA but, it solved nothing.
 
SCART-RGB cable is even better (if you're in PAL territory).

Which TV model do you have (read the stick behind the tv)??

look around for a crt with component (and s-video if possible). most people will sell them for cheap or even give them away.
trust me ps2 looks great with component or even s-video on a crt

Look for something cheaper. Or also check if your monitor has video rca input (so you can connect the composite).

However on a fixed matrix HD screen, Ps2 games won't look as they should. If you have a good PC, better to use PCSX2 (running games at about your monitor native resolution).

Where I am, they almost pay you for retiring (even very good quality) CRT TVs.
Ps2 with SCART-RGB cable (also component is fine) on a good (perfectly aligned) 28/29" SONY trinitron is the best.

Do you mean very LESS sharpness??

You have to realise, not all games have same resolution or details. God of war is one of the BEST looking games on PS2. HCTP is also pretty. Those big games like MGS3 is amazing too but GTA SA on PS2 does look quite shitty. It's just that it's PS2. NOT all games will look sharp. If you want to see super high graphics, try the Sony or naughty dog games, Batman Begins, King Kong also had superb graphics.

Since he was connected in composite, every game looks like shit. Some less than other as you pointed out. Indeed GoW is so clear than even through composite can be watchable (when you're not used to good cables).

If you're really desperate

In PS2 system configuration, set display to YPBPR
Then get this PS2 to HDMI Converter
And then get a HDMI to VGA converter to add on it.

Yes. I have only played with composite back in the day, and some games really stood out. Killzone, GoW, Black, GT4 to name a few.
