PS2 How to play PS1 games on OPL?

I think it was removed out of later versions of OPL , so it might not be visible to him .

solid state media generally doesn't not need to ever be "defragmented" due to the nature the data is accessed . I'm not going to reply to any further follow ups as I feel this looks like one of those endless threads by @Windows10User , where one question is followed by another mostly unrelated already answered question , PS1 games will not give the stuttering issues you are worried about due to the read rate being ample over usb 1.1 , your router seems to be at fault for either bottlenecking or throttling the data transfer for PS2 games , if you are by the means get a phat PS2 and an internal HDD ( mechanical or SSD) or just go with a PS3 , I do apologise for my brevity .

My question had to do with the subject and this time I was talking about PS2 games, not PS1 ones. Is it my fault the setting was removed? Also, I changed the router and I still have this issue and I don't want to get a PS2 fat and an internal HDD/SSD.

So you get Ps2 games FMVs stuttering issues on SMB, right? Can you make a video of the problem? Or just tell me the game/s on which you experience the stutter.

Also have you tested with different OPL versions (also old ones, like 0.9.2, 1.0.0), the behavior is the same?

My questions have to do with the topics most times and not all of them were answered before since I've had a lot of problems and some of them weren't fixed and other users didn't have them. What's the matter of asking something because y'all use terms and suppose every user knows about them?

Moreover, it looks like you were wrong about what you stated regarding solid state media.

I also had them since the 0.9.3 version and I have a black screen when running of them via UDPBD. I was told UDPBD was more compatible than SMB and the latter was the least compatible device but I never had this black screen issue with it.

:encouragement:

You asked about where the setting was to defragment your disk through OPL , I commented to @Peppe90 that this feature was removed out of later builds and that might be the reason you weren't seeing it , it was no comment on you at all , apologies if it came across that way . The latter part of my comment specifically mentions if you are by the means to get any of the other methods and they're available to you you could attempt them , it was in no way intended that you have to use those methods .

Thanks for the reply , TnA means I'm wrong in me saying SSD's don't need defragmenting and I'd be willing to go guess he means in this environment , I said SSD's generally don't need to be defragmented , which is factually correct it's common knowledge for general use not to defragmented SSD's . Thank you for your reply .

Btw.: The "English MF. Do you speak it?" was a reference to the Scene in "Pulp Fiction".
It's not meant to be mean. ;)

I do but even though it's not my mother language but what got me confused was which one was faster when using POPStarter, USB or SMB.
They're both fast enough for PSX games, but SMB is faster so works better for PS2 games. In general I just setup my PS1 games manually for popstarter using the "official" instructions at https://bitbucket.org/ShaolinAssassin/popstarter-documentation-stuff/wiki/Home

Just remember, popstarter is still an emulator so even if the game boots and runs mostly okay you may encounter issues such as slowdown, etc. in certain areas of the game. It's not the same as running a PS1 disc on the PS2 so burning a CD-R may be a better option rather than fighting with popstarter, unless you're confident game performance isn't going to affect gameplay.

Is there a way to make use of the Ps2 Phat's ps1 chip to run games from USB or Internal HDD? Sorry I'm new to this and trying to figure out what to use/buy for a Ps2 Phat to run ps2/PS1 games "natively" (stored on a drive bigger than 2tb)

You can't because once the PS2 reboots the IOP (which is essentially the PS1 CPU) into the PS1 mode, all PS2-specific peripherals (including USB and HDD) will be rendered inaccessible.
