How to prevent getting banned ps3

How to prevent getting banned ps3, I was banned twice for a few times. The first time I accidently entered on the homebrew online smh.

Disabling CFW history/syscalls will give some protection against a ban.

But, no one really knows sonys banning criteria. So there's never a guarantee.

Been tinkering with a DEX PS3 for 3 years, HFW for 1, been banned 3 times (with DEX lmao), this is the info I can provide.

CEX/DEX BAN PREVENTION METHODS
  • Use PSNinja to wipe, replace & make history read-only.
  • Alternatively, PS3PRO 5.1 can be used to do this from the XMB now.
  • Use PSNPatch to spoof your CID and disable syscalls after mounting your game
  • webMAN auto-spoofs but you can also set a custom spoof from there or SEN Enabler.
  • To cancel syscalls manually with webMAN, press R2 + Triangle from the XMB.

BRICK-PROOFING METHODS

  • NEVER delete ANYTHING from the dev_flash / dev_blind besides .PKGs

  • If switching from CEX to DEX, always make sure to dump your EID and Enable QA Flag

  • Use the "fixed" System debug settings which are activated from REBUG Toolbox. If you have an old CFW then you may have to run REBUG's standalone flag tool and press L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 + L3 + D-Pad Down over Network Settings to unhide the old version that comes with Edy viewer, which can cause a brick as well as many other functions within the debug settings. In general, I wouldn't tinker with anything inside the Debug Settings honestly.

  • You should know this already, but NEVER install OFW over CFW.

  • Also, NEVER, EVER, run factory service mode from a CFW, EVER.

RUNNING GAME MODS / THE TRUTH IS HARD BUT IT'S TRUE

  • Black Ops 1 and all older CODs are the only ones you can play without getting banned. I've played BO1 Zombies with mods for years and NEVER got banned for it, even without disabling CFW syscalls, for 8 months and I didn't get my first ban until I started playing BO2 with Reflex Engine, which brings me to another issue.

  • DO NOT USE MENUS THAT YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR. Truthfully, they are often better in the mods that they contain but just as KMZ has proven, more than 90% of these paid menus will steal your CID and even your Xregistry.sys which happens to be the most sensitive information on your PS3

  • MW1, WAW, MW2 & BO1 are all safe as long as you are playing with standard .SPRX menus and the proper EBOOT for said game/mods. Sometimes the EBOOT itself can contain a mod menu but a seperate SPRX file is usually the case.

  • I'm sure some people will argue this next statement but I would advise you not to play GTA4, GTA5, BO2, BO3, AW or GHOSTS with any kind of mods whatsoever. My first ban after those 8 months was most likely from the paid .SPRX I bought for BO2 but I was running mods on 12 some games at the time and the ban came a couple days after BO2 with Reflex Engine and a few .SPRX menus on GTA5, after not being on my PS3 for a week or so I came back to this ban.

  • The 2nd ban came after 3 months of Reflex Engine on BO2, played nearly 5 out of 7 days of the week. This time I knew it was the paid menu and avoided it for another 8 months. Begrudingly, I went back to it at some point becuase it's funner than BO1. Anyways right before my 3rd and final ban, I was testing a couple script.js + .img mods for GTA4 as well as a SPRX for GTA5. Old school GTA4 and EFLC were as dead as could be, yet I somehow felt like Rockstar's watchful eyes were hovering amongst me. After that, I ran Salfety V8.2 on GTA5 for 5 mins, shut the PS3 off, and turned it back on only to get a CID banned in less than a month. Syscalls were disabled and I made sure not to sign in from the XMB until I was already into the game, STILL GOT BANNED even after all the precautions.
THE LAST BIT OF INFORMATION I CAN GIVE
  • Games that give you the ability to Report Players should always be considered ultra-high-risk, nonetheless, I have never been banned on any old CoD game (even when Black Ops 1 gives the ability to report players) while I feel like 2 or at least 1 of my bans was the result of using a paid menu and having your CID posted on ConsoleCrunch, etc. The 2nd and final bans give me this feeling with the GTA series that Rockstar devs are able to monitor your gameplay as if they're playing your game themselves; down to every car you jack, every player you off or even every footstep you take. I would especially expect this as a possibility for the PS4 version but bans on the PS3 version are still more rampant than that of it's successor.

  • This last piece I only consider to be half-true but it could keep you safe. Don't run homebrew while logged in or don't even log in at all unless you've disabled your syscalls first. This should give you a mild level of protection from games that are high-risk to play altogether. you might get away with 3 months of mods on BO2 or 3 weeks of mods on GTA5 like I have, but ultimately, most games that came out in the later half of the PS3's life-cycle are hard to mod forever without getting banned. It's like saying that bans are inevitable if you want to enjoy your CFW PS3 for more than just it's debug features.
Alot of this could probably apply to HFW as well but I'm not a big fan of it...

On CFW, PSNPatch is the best & easiest overall up to date solution, it does everything (we know about) that can be done to lower the ban risks.
You do not need anything else, using several ban mitigation homebrews simultaneously does not provide extra security, it is redundant at best & in some cases it might even do more harm than good.
The best is to install the psnpatch plugin & configure it appropriately if you use spoofing, it will load on console startup & automatically clean the history, disable syscalls & homebrew launch, spoof ids etc.. when triggered with a pad combo.
Read the psnpatch info thread.

Beyond that, you should always avoid using cheats or mods online especially with the riskiest games, most bans are COD or BO2 related. Online gamers should really stick to OFW as much as possible & spoof ids/use a disposable psn account whenever they use a CFW.

If you play COD/BO2 online very often, but still require a CFW for other things, you could consider using a dual boot setup so that you can toggle between cfw & ofw. There is both a hardware solution (permanent hardware flasher) & a software solution (PS3 Toolset) to swap CoreOS, all you need to do after that is swap the hard drive.

HFW is fundamentally OFW with an older webkit sprx file. There is no ban risk whatsoever in using HFW on its own. However using HEN on HFW is a different matter, it's probably just as risky as using a CFW.

As a cod player, this comment helps a lot. Was afraid to play the old cod games but its nice to know its unlikely to get banned if you dont use mods etc.

Very helpful thank you

I've had my CECH-2001A Slim for some time now! Been jailbroken for about 4yrs! I just recently started playing BO1 & within 2 weeks I got banned twice! On the 2nd time it was the very next day. Im on Rebug 4.84.2 D-REX ive tried it all & nothing seems to be affective anymore against that (BAN HAMMER)! I was like nah surely im not getting banned on this old A** Game, Me--->WELL ILL BE!!

Some important things: S0ny changed the way authentication works on 4.88, so don't spoof firmware (as there is no DEX CFW on 4.88, it's better to avoid it). Don't use PSNinja, it's very old. On CFW, the best way to avoid a ban, playing online, is updating to the latest CFW with the same version of the latest OFW and use webMan MOD to block syscalls and clean history (you can also use PSNPatch to do it). But even with all this, a ban can still happens.

And you can run FSM in CFW that is how we marry blu-ray drives to different consoles. What you can't do is install CFW while in FSM mode. And honestly PSNinja has been outdated for literally years and is just an extra step that is redundant. Just mount your game, run PSN Patch and play. Avoid any type of game modding as most I see is running stuff on COD & GTA games online. The best tool is simply knowledge & common sense. Dated material like PS Ninja is why we always stress avoiding old videos and using current methods.

I used PSNinja for a couple of years until most users were saying not to use it anymore plus the whole thing of using it to clear history and always going back to check "What's New" got old. So now I just clear history/syscalls with the webman button combo

@C2THAALLDAY I haven't played BO1 with mods for nearly an entire year now but when I was doing it I used one of the only if not THE ONLY publicly leaked EBOOT variant of a mod menu to play the game. (SC58's)(not a SPRX) and never seen a ban with this menu

But SPRX menus on GTA5 and BO2, just don't... (been banned 3 times between those two games)(plus was still using PSNinja)

Also, not sure but it is probably alot safer to change your IDPS with webMAN mod Vs. changing it with CCAPI.

and any game where players can report you or other modders could get your CID is bad idea to play

This mostly just leaves me stuck with MW1, MW2, BO1, WAW and single player games with mods. (for the rest of my PS3's life)

black ops is a bad game to play if you don't want to get banned. bo2 especially... that and gta V are notorious for bannings. I wouldn't play either unless on ofw.
Makes since bro, ill give it a try, so i need to upgrade to rebug 4.88.1 are any CFW as long as its 4.88?Just make sure i stay pretty much NSYNC as possible with the actual PSN OFW? Will definitely give that a try. Thnx bro!
