I installed FMCB for mod chipped on a non-mod chipped console, now I won't load anything

Long story short, I tried to upgrading from OPL 0.7. I follow the installation from here (https://www.psx-place.com/resources/fmcb-fhdb-noobie-package.721/) but silly me I installed FMCB for mod chipped on a non-mod chipped console, now I won't load anything. It can boot into PS2 Memory Card Browser, the FMCB data can be seen on the browser but won't load the uLaucherELF nor the OPL. I can't load uLauncher from DVD/CD since my disk drive is broken a long time ago. I live in a small city in Indonesia so I can't find someone who can fix this or someone who has the FMCB/uLauncherELF to copy their data. Is there any way how to fix this?

I'm using SCPH-10000 with no modchip.

Tl;dr: I installed FMCB for mod chipped on a non-mod chipped console, now I won't load anything

There is no such thing as "FMCB for modchiped" or "none modchiped" console. FMCB and FHDB in any version works on all firmwares up and include to v2.20. Line v1.9xx however can be conflicted with some modchips and hang on boot or during homebrew apps booting. Also Memory Card itself should be original to be fast enough and additionally support Magic Gate.

So I don't understand Your problem (lack of description :P).

If You have problem with applications booting (bad config etc.) You can still launch "mass:/RESCUE.ELF" (put i.e uLE in this name on root of pendrive).

So, what was the end goal here??
You had a FMCB memory card, tried to update OPL but actually reinstalled FMBC again but with mod chip support? And now FMCB memory card doesn't work??

What comes to my mind is FMCB 1.8 needs XMODULES as SCPH-1xxxx doesn't have them in firmware (I don't remember how it looks like on 1.9xx).

But this needs a hacked console to change of course (or original PS3 Memory Card Adapter to have access to MC on PC).

Are You see FMCB logo during boot? ;) If yes, does Browser is hacked or original?

So you installed FHDB on internal HDD then installed FMCB on MC?

I'm using USB flashdisk to load up my games

Before i'm updating, the old OPL 0.7 is still loading like usual, but when I tried to update it, it installs like so but when I restarted the PS2 it just blanks. I pull out the memory card and it goes back to the Browser.

I'm sorry for the lack of description, English isn't my prime language sorry :(

No, no FMCB logo, just blanks with some faded green glitches.
Wait, how can I know does the Browser is hacked or original? Is there any differences? The browser appears just like normal PS2 Memory Card browser.

I'm downloading this one (http://www.mediafire.com/file/rerim30c0vnwlf3/FMCB-FHDB_1965_[081218]NP_V4_modchip.7z), I found it on the noobie for modchips tab.

Dear Admins and Moderators, I'm sorry but can I post twice? I can't edit my last post.
I've uploaded the video prove about my problem here:

Yes, I'm using my laptop for my PS2 screen. I'm using OBS and EasyCap.

It is not a matter of Your English (my native language is also not English and it is far from perfect ;p) but a lack of needed informations of steps which You took.

But anyway, if You don't have FMCB logo on start, it means You don't have FMCB installed at all on MC and now You are without exploit.

Modified OSDSYS (Browser) looks like this (if not altered in configuration file):
fmcb.jpg

Last version of FMCB/FHDB is 1.966, and latest stable realese of OPL is 0.9.3 (later beta version is somewhere around 16xx build). So You shouldn't using any kind of "noobie package" in the first place, but learn how the things works. However, it is not the problem in the first place. Installing FMCB is just choosing Install option in the installer menu. You couldn't mess that. ;)

So... maybe Your memory card is not original and/or coincidentally You get bad blocks where crucial files are (that would be a reason why FMCB doesn't load).

Now, the only way to fix this is run the installer again. And that's the problem for You if You don't have friends with exploited or modchiped PS2. In such case You have few ways:
  • run FHDB from HDD (installations aren't per device so You can write anyone disk image with installed FHDB or prepare it by hand or just write __mbr part with uLE kHn)
  • run any uLE by original cheat device disc
  • write FMCB on MC via PS3 Memory Card Adaptor
  • run uLE via Free DVD Boot if You have friend with compatible DVD-Video Player version range (all Slims and few Fat models)

Maybe this can be another clue for my problems.

Oh, I'm not using HDD, I'm using USB flashdisk for my games, so I can't run FHDB.

Judging by uploaded videos. It hangs during boot. You waited to short before You removed the MC because if card is slow, it took few more seconds. But I believe You already waiting much longer and just want make video as short as possible.

Normally, it should looks like this:
  1. Starting PS2 with already inserted mc with installed FMCB.
  2. After one or two seconds, logo FMCB appears and after another few seconds You will see hacked OSDSYS like in my screenshot above.
  3. Apps can be loaded from the list in browser (not from the items in MC view, just FYI).

I guess i'll give up and wait until this virus ends so I can go to Jakarta to fix this problem.
Thanks a lot Berion for the quick responses, I learn a lot from this. Take care, stay safe boss!

If You have modchip installed and don't know about it, it is possible that the journey to Jakarta will be pointless because You will face the same problem.

To be honest, I recommending for You:
1. Do full format via Memory Card Annihilator (because in case of bad blocks, those will be excluded)
2. Install FMCB v1.8b (mult-inistallation option, yet read about including mandatory xmodules for SCPH-1xxxx series because I don't remember now where and which exactly to put) which works with modchips fine.

Meanwhile, You could try disabling modchip by button combinations (press some button during console launch, which one depends on modchip model).

You too. ^^

Probably at this point the restriction has been lifted automatically for your account, incase it doesnt it will happen soon (in the next days after you write a few more posts)

Try pressing and holding R1 when you power on the Ps2.

I'm not a modchip expert, but you can also verify it if you have a backup game. Newer FMCB version that doesn't have problems with modchips is FMCB 1.953.

I don't see any modchip on this mobo. It's hard to miss anyway, while it is additional hardware wired by plenty of cables, soldered in many points on the mother board.

And the only safe version of FMCB regardless to modchip is 1.8b/1.8c or older. In my case, none of the FMCB 1.9xx works (boots fine but gets black screen/freeze all the time when homebrew loading).

I would bet on bad blocks on memory card.

I think it's the first time I heard of conflict problems with chip with rev. 1.953. Anyway, better being sure, so I would agree with your suggestion.

Btw it seems this console is unmodded. Must be a MC related problem, being it not original.

Before this the memory card can run OPL 0.7 without any problem.

Been pressing anything, still blanks just like in the video I posted :(
