Hello!

1 year ago i bought a PS3 Slim CECH-2008a from a Facebook Marketplace.
Note that i live in a very hot country (Weather hits 40c)
This PS3 was overheating (CPU 72 RSX 77)
on idle.
since the temps were that high on XMB. i decided to delid both the CELL and the RSX. Delid went successful and my console booted up.
When i checked the temps after the Delid i noticed that my RSX was overheating again! My CPU was 64 and RSX at 75 after hours of letting sit on XMB. After many days of disassembling and assembling i gave up and made the fan just spin in a higher rate.
Recently i went to revisit and thought of giving it the case mod (Drilling holes on the case) to see if that helps because previously the RSX would hit 78c on non-CELL intensive games (30% fan speed)
So as my last resort i drilled the holes and booted it up thinking that it would overheat again.
On my surprise it now idles at 58 CELL and 63 RSX! i was playing GTA IV and previously it would hit 77c on the RSX and 68 on CELL(SYSCON FAN SPEED). Now it hits CELL 64 and RSX 72 on SYSCON (28%) after 1 hour which amazed me!

Tl;dr
Drilling holes on the fan side fixed my overheating problem and made my system even cooler.
previously: CELL 62 RSX 68 (IDLE)
Now: CELL 58 RSX 62 (IDLE)
ROOM TEMP: 35 CELL 32 RSX

Note i live in a hot country so anything below 70c is a win for me.

Honestly I would of made a top 3d printed Shell and make a Hole and put a dust filter to It.

The slim models the fan is on the top right compare to the fat models thats on the bottom

Yeah opening the case makes a Difference, test made with the ps5 that a open case lower 5 degrees of the console
