Hello!
I've snooped around PSX place for a number of years but I never made an account until I really wanted to find my original PS3 after my mom died.
The combination of missing my PS3 and finishing my electrical engineering degree really got me digging into the cause of the YLOD and fixing up some older BC PS3's.
While I haven't saved up enough to get a full BGA rework set up, or at least one I feel comfortable using as to not ruin anymore motherboards, I have enough to at least do some basic things and get into the system controller. I'd love to also get my own oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer. For now priority goes to the house repairs, kids, and beautiful wife
And yes, currently married with 2 adopted (nephews that give me hell), a beautiful daughter of my own, and hopefully more kiddos in the future.
In my down time, I like to learn more about the PS3 and how it ticks. I'd like to know the system controller better and maybe someday (probably never, but I can dream) learn more on the RSX architecture and CELL Broadband Engine architecture for coding in assembly for them (hence why it is more of a dream lol)
It might be worth noting that, despite being an electrical engineer, I work mostly with power systems. I do have computer architecture/VHDL coursework with my favorite class being Digital Control System Design using the book by Philips, Nagle, and Chakrabortty. That being said, I have some basic understanding of electronics but it's NOT my area of expertise and I want to be humble and transparent.
I'm hoping to be more involved on PSX Place, and be a part of the community. I'd love to help as much as I can even if I can't spend as much time as other users.
