I have the Super Slim PS3 version (CECH-40xxC i think thats the model or something?) and am wanting to install/run SNES emulator and roms. The question im asking is: Is it possible? If yes, what program do i need to jailbreak the ps3, what emulator is recommended for snes roms ON the ps3, and what step by step process should i go about this? If not, thats fine at least i tried asking. Any help is appreciated.

superslims can only use HEN. i wrote an install guide here. retroarch has several cores for most old systems. there is a community edition available here.

got it. is there a guide or folder i can use to put snes roms in? or is it just put roms in usb and plug it in? im used to using a PC to play emulators but decided to repurpose my ps3

i think retroarch makes a ROMS folder on the hard drive. you should be able to load the files from anywhere by changing folders when choosing a file.

retroarch creates a "roms" in USRDIR of the application.

It is webMAN MOD that creates /dev_hdd0/ROMS when it starts.
If the folder doesn't exist, it can be created manually with any Backup Manager or FTP client.

ok...so a couple problems im running into:
1: i dont know if i installed the Hybrid Firmware correctly (system still says "version 4.88", dont know if its supposed to say something else, ill try one more time cause i dont know if its because of the usb not having an MBR)
2: hen installers dont work or fail (tried all 3 methods, autoHEN, alternate and unofficial) Might relate to the 1st issue but ill keep looking into it
3: theres no option to install pkg (tried to see if i can install HEN via pkg) but like i said, i dont know if all this relates to the 1st issue (am i supposed to see additional features? is there a package manager? am i supposed to see "ver HFW 4.88.1 something?)

for now imma go to a store to get a new usb to resolve the 1st issue (at this point a 3 gig one is enough JUST to enable MBR)

System Update on the XMB will only ever read the version, regardless if it's HFW, CFW and its many varieties. That is perfectly normal.

if HFW does not install, it should give an error. if you see "NaN" somewhere in the browser screen with the installer failure, then HFW is not installed.

figured it out, somewhat, had to set the HEN installer (www.ps3xpoit.com/henintaller i think?) as Home Page in browser to properly install

I think a notification or text on the bottom saying HFW v4.88 would be nice to know if it installed or not

another question i have is that after i install, how do i know it is enabled? does the HEN logo (after turning it on/off) at the beginning mean its enabled? i pressed the *enable HEN* icon but after a the 2nd attempt it would say i need to reboot to enable

but for now at least i now have the package manager so i can install the retroarch package...soooo yeah...so far no fireworks yet lol

use the enable icon ONE time right after starting the ps3. it should show a notification in the top right corner when it enables. it will say "welcome to hen 3.0.3!" or like that. if you install webman, it will show a notification right after hen starts as well.

ok so far:
HFW is good
ps3HEN is good
Retroarch is installed (this was my main goal) so its good
and just in case webman is installed as well

now...is there a file manager (or something similar) to transfer roms from the usb to the ps3?
right now im feelin the console heating up a bit but im pretty it just needs to be dusted out...and thanks for all the help yall given me, i really appreciate it

multiman, irisman, and other backup managers have file managers in them. you can also use ftp. webman has it enabled by default. enter your ps3's IP in filezilla or another ftp app.

since you are using hen, i recommend to set webmans's fan settings to manual 40%. you can watch the temps from your phone or pc by typing your ps3's IP followed by "/cpursx.ps3". if the temps stay below 70 when playing games, then you are okay at 40%.

aaaaand done...as soon as i saw a familiar pc face after i installed multiman, i got the hang of it from there to copy and paste...
again i really thank you guys for helping out...NOW then...onward to Super Mario World lol...its not retro if im not playing a highly nostalgic 8 bit game...now....ITS TIME FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY TO START XD
