PS3 Is It Possible to Use a PS4 Theme on PS3?

As the title suggests, I'm curious if it is possible to use a ps4 theme on the ps3. Or would one have to try to extract the files from a ps4 theme and rebuild it for the ps3?
 
can't because the structure is quite different. plus, you wouldn't be able to install the pkg. rebuilding it, I dunno if that would be possible. I've dumped forty themes or so, but I haven't used a theme on my ps3 in ages, so I don't recall if they even have sound. here's what the structure looks like. I'm not an expert at building themes though, just that I foresee problems even if you tried rebuilding it from scratch:

Thanks for the info @pinky. I was just curious if anyone knew since I found no info with google. Much Appreciated. By any chance do you happen to have the Kingdom Hearts 3 theme Impossible Odds. It was only available to people who pre-ordered as far as I know but since PS4's been hacked I figured it'd be shared for those who didn't pre-order the game. Sadly my google searches haven't provided anything useful.

@Berion might be a good person to ask how viable it is. he's made themes for both ps3 and vita. I know you can't just install the theme, but how possible it is to put one together using the ps4 theme as a base, I do not know. I could dump the kingdom hearts 3 theme if I had it, but I'm afraid I didn't preorder that game.
 
directly you cant but you can actually extract the assets used on that ps4 theme and create a new one that is compatible with ps3. it requires a quite bit manual work.
 
hmm...that particular theme seems to have .png, .dds, .xml, and .mdx files. I think that might be it. in the function folder, it has the images for the different tiles on the home menu. each has a different name along with a "glow" version of the file, so the naming is quite different as well.

it can be official as well. themes and a lot of dlc can be dumped with a fix that only relies on content id. of the 40 themes I've dumped, almost all have been official, and the fix I made worked for all of them. they're like C00 games for the ps3, since those also just require the content id to work. if it's a preorder theme, it was probably free anyway, but even free themes require a fix.

I had a friend fine me the metal slime ps4 theme for my metal slime ps4. since I bought it used, the theme had been used up. it came as a download code. anyway, I made a fix for that, and it works. there's also a way to have fix and theme together in one pkg, which the second photo above is an example of. someone wanted me to show them an example, because he was trying to use my themes' tutorial.

mods, please delete this post if it's not allowed. I assume it's okay, because fixing themes is the same as C00 games, and cobra does that by default. you can also dump games with a legit license, the theme just needs to be installable from the themes' section.

interesting. the only themes I have on my systems is the metal slime one for the ps4 and a majora's mask for the 3ds. I also have a theme for my wii and virtual wii by modifying one of the system files. they're black and blue respectively. I'm not too much into themes though unless it goes with the system. I don't use a theme with my jtag, because I've had bad experiences where the theme wasn't the same version as the hacked dash (or even sometimes the same version), and parts of the dash would be missing. ever since then, I've kept it as default.
 
Honestly, I just like the system/menu sounds from Kingdom Hearts and I had seen that pre-order theme awhile back had them included. It had some other neat lil features as well. Recently while testing Ultimate Toolbox it made me wonder if this was possible. I had the idea it would be, by rebuilding it with the proper files.

And since I had been looking for the theme and had no luck, I thought maybe someone in this community might own it and would be willing to share. I also figured since it was just a theme it wouldn't be anything bad to ask about. But I could be wrong and as @pinky said, if it is, then feel free to delete my posts asking about it. But the main purpose of the thread was just to see if anyone knew for sure it was possible to convert a ps4 theme to be used with ps3.
 
the theme would be free if it's preorder, so I'm assuming it's okay especially with C00 games being unlocked automatically by the same method is okay with cobra. I could dump the theme if I had it, but someone would have to find it first. I wouldn't be the one to convert it to the ps3 though, since that's as far as my knowledge on themes goes. I can dump or unlock them on both ps3 and ps4, but I don't really know how to make them. at least on the ps3, you can dump the edat into a p3t and install that way. afaik, you can't do something like that with the ps4. they're all pkgs.
 
Themes between PSP, PS3, PSV and PS4 are incompatible with each other platforms. Packaging is different. File formats are incompatible (PSP and PSV using *.gim, while PSV and PS4 *.png but also in different sizes and with different deep bit). Meta data is/are incompatible. Everything is incompatible.

However, as everyone above already said, more or less, themes can be recreated using original assets. They will not work the same and they will not look the same but more or less similar, depend of author skills, taste and style direction.
 
there's a way I didn't know about to logically determine a god link without a proxy. my friend tried to use it with kingdom hearts, but he found no preorder theme for US or EU, and HK and JP didn't work for some reason. I think this is how he found the metal slime theme, which is JP only. do you know which region this free theme is for?

But I'm not seeing the theme being incuded from that page.

I asked about it because I figured if someone had it and their PS4 was jailbroken then they'd have access to the theme itself to be shared. I already own the game( a physical copy) or maybe I'd think of getting that AIO package. But with the wording from that store link, I'm not entirely sure the theme comes with the AIO. So I'd be wasting money to see if it's still included. Yes I'd have a digital version of the game and I'd get the other games as well but I only wanted the theme lol. $100 for a theme, no thanks lol.

Anyway thanks for looking out for me, much appreciated. Maybe someone here has it and is willing to share it lol.
