WebMAN LaunchPad (webMAN MOD Add-On -Unofficial)

PS3 LaunchPad (Unofficial addon for webMAN MOD) v0.17

apparently I just screwed up my PS3, I went to uninstall pkg downloader & launchpad with the installer then when it rebooted no signal on hdmi, possible brick. guess it's time to send it out to get fixed :(

Shit, Hope you get sorted. Not sure if this will help but I had what I thought was a possible brick once when testing for Joonie, turned out it was related to the payload and putting in a different HDD (or formatting the current one in a PC) allowed me to enter recovery and reinstall. I was about to get out the E3 and unbrick but that worked.

BTW: Ive just done some more tests here myself installing and uninstalling this, I even tried to break it by installing/uninstalling Launchpad with cobra and cfw settings disabled etc and I couldn't reproduce any brick/semi-brick. Hopefully its not related to this? Are you running other plugins or a modified payload?

I was doing a lot of things at once must have been too much on the hdd (corrupted big time windows didn't even see it ) put a new hdd reformatted reinstalled FW all is good now. Been meaning to change that hdd just never got around to it.

WebMAN LaunchPAD v0.12 (Rebug 4.80 Only)

Small Changes:
  • Changed message that appears when mounting a game or using a function to "Performing requested action..Please Wait.."
  • Removed XMBPD from the installer as that is now separate.
  • Changed XMB items title to "WebMAN Launchpad" for all languages.
  • Added the wm_launchpad.xml in the same format as the one that WMM creates, just 3 functions at the top and local icons.
  • Added local icons to installer incase XMBM+ isn't installed.
  • Changed icon for installer so it matches item.
DOWNLOAD

Note: You can delete the installer after you run it and select option 1. You will need it again if you want to uninstall Launchpad, so keep the pkg.

@Berion maybe you would be interested in making some icons for Launchpad? There are only like 6 icons. The ones I included are not great, don't match, they were grabbed quickly from google and I never got around to looking again.

They are a higher res than most PS3 icons = 320x267:

wm_lp_setup.png

wm_lp_refresh.png

wm_lp_game.png
kaSgDO1.png

wm_lp_movie.png
OwvhHa3.png

wm_lp_dvd.png

@aldostools Im not sure if its possible to tell the difference between Bluray movies and game ISOs (and DVDs?) and show a different (higher res) icon for each type in the launchpad, if possible that would be nice.

Also, Im not sure why, but I have all 4 of @0_obeWANs PS3_EXTRA collection ISOs on my internal HDD after downloading them via XMBPD, in the wm_launchpad.xml that WMM creates, 2 of them get the remote icon entry "PS3EXTISO.JPG" and 2 of them get the local icon entry "icon_wm_ps3.png" , There must be something different about 2 of them I assume (probably the title ID is that, anyway doesn't matter). It would be better if it could add the icon "PS3EXTISO.PNG" for these due to the transparent background on the disc icon but its not majorly important if its hard to detect them, I have added a jpg called PS3EXTISO.JPG with a black background to the server anyway.

1. What Launchpad doing? ;p
2. Why icons are so, how can I describe it, fat? This unnatural long-winded is for a reason?
3. Why they are so gigantic? ;)

1. It's easier if you watch this video or try it, it's basically a different GUI (Like PS4 library view) for choosing webMAN games and functions (Video shows an old version). Webman mod scans your game folders and creates the wm_launchpad.xml so your games show up with big covers like below.

2. Im Lazy :)

3. That is the size of the box and see number 2, I'm lazy, I just made them fill the box. :)

EDIT: Actual res needed is 486x405.

BTW: Can even use icon that changes to swf video, see this, the game cover changes to the game trailer.

That's cool idea.

Oh, You should say from start that this utilize the same functions like PS3_EXTRA. I wrote tutorial for it 6 years ago and one care. :D But anyway, I understand how it works.

Yeah it's the same like the PS3_EXTRA menu, but it uses "What's New" instead. We can add apps, games, packages, Web links etc.

@aldostools: Something I just thought of. For the last item on the Launchpad list, the placeholder that keeps them all scrolling, I have added the icon/link http://xmbmods.co/wmlp/covers/blank.png and it gets rid of the ugly red square. The blank.png is 1x1 pixel and is only 157bytes. In the next version I will get rid of the little "NEW" icon too by replacing it with a blank one in the rco. so the placeholder will be almost invisible.

Done. You can download the latest pkg from github

EDIT: Updated the pkg with the new icons by @Berion

Note: I'm not using the new disc icons due the XML generator for LaunchPad uses the same icons used also for XMB and HTML. They have a smaller dimension and have a transparent background.

Regarding to the question about using different icons for BD Movies & PS3 games: yes, it is possible, but the current code uses the icon to simplify the code.

BTW: Why there is no icons for PSP, PS2 and PSX? It only "run" PS3 games and BD/DVD-Videos? I just basing on icons which @kozarovv attached.

And could we also replaced icon No Cover? It' horrible. ;]

The LaunchPad shows the same icons used for the other lists. So PSP, PS2, PSX and DVD icons are also supported.

Only PS3 and BD Movies share the same generic Bluray icon. Maybe the question about these is what caused your confusion.

Honestly I would love to have one of your beautiful icons for "No Cover" that can be used for XMB list, HTML list, Slider and LaunchPad.
I agree that the current one is horrible (or worse).

I can change that one on the server if I have a replacement. It does look rough alright :) (actually I might be thinking of a different image..NOID.JPG)

Cool. That was quick. And that's fine about the icons. was just curious. Maybe to keep the code simple (ish) you could use the same icon names but we could have higher res Launchpad versions at a different location, so its only a small change in the wm_launchpad.xml generation. If not its cool the way it is too, they just look a little rough around the edges when they are displayed so big.

Do you mind explaining quickly how you managed to get local icons working? Was it something simple, or some complicated redirect/workaround? The xml looks the same to me but now they work? I thought I had tried that type of entry but possibly not.

I don't understand why icons for discs are read from RCO?

The ones used are the ones that webMAN uses on its XMB view, they are stored on the hdd in this case in the temp folder. The problem is that the code that generates the xml for Launchpad is webman using functions it already has available, so it is grabbing those icons. I expect the reasons for this include keeping webman plugin memory footprint small, and also the time required to change it etc.

I kind of gave up with this project as I cant really take it any further, Any improvements now will be on the xml generation level or the visual level and I cant do much in those departments, I will put new packages together though when there are things I can do. :)

New icons look great!

Something better below. ;)

Your talent don't cease to amaze me!!!! These icons are outstanding!!!

@DeViL303 You can download the new package including the new icons by Berion
https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases/latest

The generated xml now uses different icons for BluRay movies and PS3 games.
The NOID image now is loaded locally when the png is available.

I used the following file names:
icon_lp_ps2.png
icon_lp_ps3.png
icon_lp_psp.png
icon_lp_psx.png
icon_lp_dvd.png
icon_lp_blu.png
icon_lp_nocover.png
eject.png
refresh.png
setup.png

For the psp icon I added a bit of more contrast to the UMD ;)

@aldostools & @Berion Nice work guys! Looks really good!

I will release an update with the new icons included.
