Linux: why on OtherOS and not on GameOS?

Just curious. Why the scene still running Linux in limited environment (no RSX access etc.), applying strange patches to enable again Other OS etc, when we have fully open access to almost all resources from Game OS (on CFW)? Fighting with flags OOS vs GOS and partitioning on modern firmwares is annoying. So why? Isn't this cannot be done by some loader which would boot Linux like any game not only without any resources access restrictions but also without problem of free space (i.e "dev_hdd0/game/LINUX0000/USRDIR/mess/" could be a root of fs, no special partition needed anymore)?

Rene Rebe was making strides in that area correct? Have you followed any of his progress recently. I'm pretty sure he has gotten it working and there is an iso out there for it.

He was installing otherOS linux. He was using T2. I remember him starting to get to the point where everyone else gets stuck (video drivers, dynarec, etc), but I lost interest well before that. Might be worth checking out though. Maybe ask him for some advice..
