PS3 Little known fact about rebug 3.55.3 (not the 9.99 Version)

Hi there. i'm here to drop a curious fact about this specific firmware that not many people know about.
Rebug 3.55.3 allows the machine to downgrade to that specific version on a specific condition:
The console MUST be qa flagged!
This is very useful for users who want to go straight to 3.55 without going through 9.99 bullshits.

Why does this happen? Well, the answer is very simple. This 3.55 cfw has spkgs on it, similar to 3.55 Downgrader DEX and Downgrader DECR. No other cfw possesses this capability! And if a user wants to go to e.g 1.02 on their CECH-A, all they need to do is add the spkgs, and they will be able to go there directly, if they have qa flag enabled.

Note that 3.55.4 REBUG does NOT have this feature!

looks like I missed it. I always replace old pup files I was aware of the spkg patch (it's listed on rebug's website or it was anyway). however, I wasn't aware that it was the only firmware with that patch:

are you really sure about this?

I think they "just" have used a DEX firmware and converted it to CEX. I think another important part is upl.xml. besides spkg tar updater2 self has to be present, too

i'm positive about it @haxxxen . at least it does not work on my end.

oh, ok. I have not specifically tried it, but I never had any problems cause I am downgrading only with DEX, lol. thank you much for reminding and also for the upload. I also have only v4 at my disposal

I've decided to go on a second attempt and it does indeed work with 3.55.4, so this means that both .3 and .4 have spkg downgrading capabilities with qa flag enabled

It was so many years ago that hard to me say. But if not real 4.21, then must be 3.55. It was from times when peoples jumping to DEX, to have possibility to play newer games because only on DEX'es user can go back to earlier DEX fw without problems (and this is why I think about SPKG).
