PS3 Movian v4.10 (Latest Stable Build) by Andreas Oman

Following the recent call to translators, Developer and Creator Andreas Oman (aka Andoma) of the one the most developed and enjoyed PS3 Homebrew creations Movian (Recently renamed to Showtime), has been updated with the latest release of version 4.10. Now with all "Showtime" references removed and some [break]sss[/break]stablity to many of new features contained in latest Testing/Bleeding edge updates. All the details about this release and some insight on version 5.0 can be seen below.

Movian v4.10 (STABLE)

This release is mostly about stability and improvement of already present features. In particular the HLS streamer received a lot of love. Downloads are available here

New generic features

  • Deprecated SpiderMonkey JavaScript engine is removed. New plugin engine Duktape (ecmascript) is updated
  • Added magnet torrent links support
  • Support browsing local network for Windows/Samba servers and also browsing shared folders on each server.
  • Upgrade to libav 11

Vastly improved HLS demuxer

  • More robust streaming of live content.
  • Support for supplementary audio tracks (multiple languages, etc).
  • Improved adaptive bitrate switching.

Raspberry Pi specific features

  • Support for Raspberry Pi 2.
  • Audio pass-thru over HDMI.
  • Automatic deinterlacing of interlaced content.
  • Automount and show USB drives on start page.

The future
  • I will now start working on the 5.0 release which will focus on an updated user interface. Stay tuned... Have fun!

Plugin Moderator Leonid Protasov says that if Movian side xml format would be supported, we could see Youtube subtitle right now.
Required Movian target bulid would be v5.0......and then, project target build erased...OTL

i don't know why they this issue be advised.

he mas explained the name change which seems reasonable to me seeing how many platforms he has released this for (works a lot better in US market/scene) as for the icon simply change it to whatever your liking (I do with everything on my system)

if u mean changing the name displayed in the xmb, u can just pkg an sfo with the name change then reinstall. make sure the app version is the same or later or u'll get the "a later version is installed" error.

I only say this opposed to rebuilding the database, because if u do that, any albums u've created will be gone.

true as this is the way I change icon and Param but I wasn't sure if him making a pkg was doable or not

interesting fact (don't think I've posted this before), but if u leave the app version blank, u can negate the app version check entirely. :-D no more pesky "a latter version is installed" for any app, dlc, or game.

yes, yes lol I figured this out when I made the Movian/Showtime name change pkgs a while back :)

since the metadata indexer contains the app version, I should check what it shows for a blank app version at some point. I'm thinking it'll probably just show blank spaces.

yeah, all installs r tied to the metadata indexer which is y u have to reinstall a pkg with an updated sfo if u want the name changed, to alter the app version, etc. it's meant to aid in the speed of reading the hdd as the system knows exactly where the common files should be located without reading the entire hard drive like the 360 does. the 360 takes a very long time to read the hdd if ur using a jtag/rgh. the hacked dash for that system uses a database method similar to the ps3, but it's still fairly slow by comparison considering it houses image* files as well while the ps3's doesn't.

edit: I meant image files like wallpapers that it downloads from xbox live. the icon files for 360 games r actually located within the default.xex (the 360 equivalent of the eboot.bin).

I really miss my old good 3.55 kmeaw i used to spend more time on that stuff that actually playing the games :rofl:

just like a .exe on windows which makes sense
