Earlier this year i started a thread called "MX4SIO frustration" where i couldn't get my MX4SIO card to work and the thread turned into pages on pages of trouble shooting - trying different OPL builds, trying different memory cards, formatting them in different ways, try this, try that! i even ended up buying another MX4SIO card!!! still nothing worked.
As much as i appreciated everyone's amazing help, I ended up giving up and just assumed my model PS2 wasn't going to work.
Yesterday i found a YouTube video of a guy trouble shooting problems with a MX4SIO card and there was one thing i didn't try and that was check the terminals of the memory card socket, sometimes they are bent down and don't make contact properly. So you get a dentist tool (from most automotive places) and use it to bend up the terminals (on the top) slightly. I tried this tip and sure enough IT WORKED!!!! everything came to life!!!!!
I couldn't believe it, all that time messing around and buying stuff when all it was, was the terminals not making contact.
My PS2 is in pretty good condition and i never imagined that would be the problem, but thats all it was!!! just an easy fix!!! So i thought i would share it, just to save a lot of time if someone else is having trouble.
