PS2 My ps2 freezes in the first loading screen *[SOLVED]*

I don't know if there are two versions but the one I told you about is in this compatibility list which I told you to check.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MLEw7TIKvn9MCwd5Ptbqh2lkUj3lX6YQ2wPgLEx8Koo/edit#gid=0

Of course it says that it is for internal HDD but you don't lose anything by trying, you still have the possibility of trying it over the network but we go in steps.

It didn't work.
My version is japanese version not the English patch does it make difference?

656.18 exists, it is a demo version.

I also extensively tested the game from ETH. I don't remember about USB but I should have at least tried it also from USB device.

Regardless if you patch the game with one of Wesker90 patches or not, it works the same on OPL.

If you didn't applied any patch on it, MD5 should be:
c82b2186f7fb0613911a4823c710aa28
Check it and report back if it's different.

It's the same md5
What does md5 do ?

It is to check if the ISO is good or corrupted.

If the MD5 is exactly that the game should work. Have you tried with older OPL versions, like 0.9.3, 0.9.2?? (With 0.9.2, from usb, I think you have to put the ID as prefix (also make sure it isn't too long) like SLPM_656.88.Berserk.iso.

I played it with 0.9.3 and 1319.

Try setting your Ps2 language to english (it shouldn't matter on this game but try anyway).

What happens exactly after you start the game. It feezes on a black screen? IGR works?
Make sure you're using a 8MB MC/VMC.

So it shouldn't be a MC/VMC related issue. You said the MD5 matches, so the only remaining thing is the device.

Try with this: https://www.psx-place.com/attachments/110622-ps2esdl_0821_ob-7z.29701/

This program has higher compatibility than OPL from USB.
By default it lists games in PS2DCDMP format. Move with left and light arrows for switching to other ripping formats (ISO, UL).

I didn't download the English patch yet because of my internet its so slow i dont know why.

You don't need to patch it, there is already a patched ISO, it's the one I tried and it works for me.

But i just discovered something i remembered that i have 1.1.0 opl and tried to run berserk with it and and an error shows up "error. The game is fragmented"
I went to my laptop and opened auslogic now im defragging it im hoping for the best

That's because the other version you tried most likely had the fragmentation check option set to disabled.

great now it doesn't want to be defragmented, theres some red boxes that its related to berserk which it needs to be defragmented but when i press defrag it doesn't get defragmented the problem with this game will never get to an end

Better use Smart Defrag 8, which is the one I use, this program defragments even the virtual memory cards.

Tip: Avoid all the work of defragmentation.
you just have to do the following:
1.- get the iso with the patch already included.
2.- Check with another USB device that is compatible with your console (try other games that work).
3.- Format your USB to FAT 32 and place the iso with UsbUtil.

Excellent!!
Sometimes when running many versions of OPL and saving changes it happens that it affects its operation.
I recommend deleting all the files in the OPL folder and starting with a clean installation.

Can't i like
Make two folders opl1 for 1.2.0 version to run the other games and opl2 for 0.9.3 version for berserk because the 0.9.3 version when a cutscene comes in it starts lagging

Having two OPL versions will cause conflicts, I had a bad experience in the past with the "network" connection, until I thought that the network adapter on my console had been damaged.
It took me almost 2 months to realize that I just had to delete all the configuration files from the OPL folder and start with a new installation.

Well imma just live with it and it's not that kind of heavy lag
I'll stay on 0.9.3 version

My advice is: never give up, do you see that you had already "thrown in the towel" and now you have managed to make it work?

Trying is better than not doing it, your conscience will not reproach you.

Dare to do a new installation, it should work for you like it worked for me.

Of course you should always have a "backup."

Edit: In case you dare, this is the version you should have, I always recommend 1.1.0 as it is the most stable.
