My PS3 is infected

I've been seeing some files inside hdd folders. At first I thought they were part of the system files, but they are spreading all over the place into other folders. I see three files: PHOTO.SRC, IMG001.EXE and INFO.ZIP
Just removing them won't fix the issue, they keep coming back.

I have Rebug 4.81 and I do use filezilla to access my game region folder. Irisman and Webman are installed.
Do I have to format the console then start from scratch? If so, is it ganna take me back to OFW, and I have to jailbreak it again?
How do I prevent this from happening again?

I've heard of this before. it's some sort of virus that spreads and can infect the ps3 via ftp. the only way I know of to fix it is to reformat. you won't have to reinstall ofw in that case. you won't even have to reinstall cfw if you do a quick format which should be enough.

How is it even possible to get a sort of virus like that on a ps3? :eek:

Damn question, how do I do the quick format ? System settings-->Format Utility then four options:
Format Memory Stick
Format SD Memory Card
Format CompactFlash
Format System Storage
I don't wanna attempt trying without knowing what I am getting myself into.

quick format should be under format system storage. if you do a full format, you'll probably have to reinstall the firmware. plus, it might take 50 hours according to the time that's displayed.
 
If you have PS3 in DMZ or open to net, and then you run a webserver like webman it can leave your drives open and writeable, you should be thankful someone didn't delete your dev_blind and soft brick you. :)

Don't worry about it anyway, those virus's cant effect PS3.

There is a way to set up password etc, but im not sure about , @aldostools

Yeah, DMZ is wide open. I will set up a password with Webman

Yeah, formatting and a FW install if flash is infected too, or you can just manually delete what you can find, they cant really do any harm except take up space.

You wont need to ever go back to OFW again. Just reinstall CFW if you need to. Formatting will only effect hdd.
 
there's a way to use a password with webman mod? I have a password for my 360. the wii u - afaik, you can't do it with that. but the ps3? I haven't turned on my system in quite a while, and I haven't looked at all options with webman mod either. I'm sure it's in there somewhere. ;)

yeah i'm having a hard time finding a password option for the ftp server within webman's settings. if there is any that is.

There is one, it might only be in the full version (Hold L1 when running webman mod updater). Im not sure of the usage though.

DMZ is not good have you testet to login to psn?

i have done in the past with another idps from old damaged consoles i have dumps from the nor flash(psn works great at this moment) i have set my ddwrt router for this ps3 to dmz for 1 hour and surprice this console(idps) has been banned!

can you test it?
 
Clicking in every link in ps3 can shut down ur ps3 very quickly, if u see a russian page/link just dont click on it all of them are virus, ps3 dont have much protection it can brick ur ps3. Full Formating is the best option but it will take too much time for it.

I have been using DMZ for months. But PSN won't work after disabling sys calls using either psnpatch or webman. The one I get around it is by restoring idps/cid using irisman then disable sys calls then connect to psn. CD needed be ejected then inserted (Don't know why, but it disappears from the menu.
