Hello everyone,
My name is Santino and I'm a new member here. I wanted to take a moment to properly introduce myself and explain why I joined this community.
I'm currently a computer science student, and I've always been interested in both modern and legacy technology. Recently, driven mostly by nostalgia, I decided to bring my old PlayStation 2 back to life and explore the current state of PS2 homebrew.
What started as a simple idea — "I just want to play again" — quickly turned into a long learning process. I spent a lot of time researching different methods, reading forum threads, watching videos, testing tools, making mistakes, and starting over more than once. I experimented with FreeDVDBoot, FunTuna, Open PS2 Loader, USB loading, and the general PS2 homebrew ecosystem, always trying to understand not only how things work, but why they work that way.
During this process, I noticed that while there is a lot of information available, it's often scattered, outdated, or assumes a level of prior knowledge that many users don't have. Because of that, I decided to start documenting the entire process step by step, with the goal of eventually creating a clear and complete guide that could be useful not only for experienced users, but also for people who simply want to revive their PS2 without modifying the hardware.
For now, my intention is to learn from the community, participate respectfully, and make sure I understand things properly before sharing anything more substantial. I really appreciate the amount of knowledge that exists here and I'm glad to finally be part of it.
Thank you for reading, and I'm looking forward to learning and contributing.
Best regards,
Santino
