PS2 New Noctua NF-A6x15 for PS2

CIao! Noctua has introduced the NF-A6x15, a new 60mm x 15mm thick fan that is perfect for the PS2 without having to print a new back panel like those who, like me, still use the NF-A6x25.

Out of curiosity, I bought the 3-pin 12V one, so it needs to be powered directly from the PS2 power supply, and to mount it I designed a simple 3D printed support. Compared to the original fan, it is quieter and has a better static pressure, even if the quality of the fan and the quantity of accessories justify it more than enough I'm not sure if the price (paid €17 on Amazon) justifies that increase in performance compared to the original fan.

But anyway, this will replace its thicker sister in my PS2TB. :joyous:

This is the .STL file of the fan mount which is suitable for any 60x15mm fan not just Noctua, but it is only a prototype made very quickly and printed with basic settings to evaluate the size and functionality, I did not spend much time on it so it is largely susceptible to improvements and changes.

just buy a fan for 50000 series. Too much effort to pull off this mod when 50000 series fans are silent already.
You can not buy new original fans. And what you can buy is misserable. This Is very good replacement, better than original.

P.S.
If this is for you too much effort. better do nothning. including play games. Because you need some effort to do that too!

I believe that this newly developed Noctua fan mod will supersede the currently used Noctua fan mod.
The original wiring is incompatible with the 12V fan, while a 7V supply could potentially damage the 5V fan.
I've come across information suggesting that using three diodes may effectively lower the voltage to 5V

I still use the "old" 25mm thick 5V fan connected to the fan header and powered by a small DC-DC converter and so far, after a couple of years, I have not had any problems. As soon as I have some time I will replace it with the 15mm 5V one.

For this test I bought the 12V one because it was the only one available at the time with Prime shipping since they had been put on the market a couple of days before and not all models were available on Amazon. :encouragement:

That's funny, I just replaced the 25mm 12v noctua with the 25mm 5v a few weeks ago after learning that the 12v model is not optimal. The 5v definitely moves more air. At least all I would have to do is drop it in if I decide to switch to the 15mm model. I already made an adapter to step the 7v to 5v and fit the PS2 fan plug. Should be easy enough to craft a simple mount for the 15mm.

Remember that the next time you are going to spit your bullshit like "BOOT-ROM and/or RAM can not be changed. If it were possible, it would have been done a long time ago.".

Btw.: The BOOT-ROM HAS been replaced with a flashable chip and it was NOT so long ago.

Yep, I had also tried the 12V the first time, but it was practically useless since it was running at half of its maximum speed and i didn't want to connect directly to the PSU.

My fan on my fat 39001 used to be loud when playing games on opl on a 2tb hdd in the expansion bay. I have since raised it off the table by 1.5 inches and now the fan is silent and the top of the ps2 doesn't get hot anymore.

What the hell man? Are you trhreatening him? What wront with his answer? I would write exatly the same thing! Why it is too much effort to change a better fan? When its too much effort the he should not even eat its also too much effort. i really dont know whats wrong with you. I stand here by @Luisile.
Ps i have not found on google any mention that somebody has changed the ps2 bios for a flasheable one-. If you have any resources, go ahead and post them! I want also look on that so far @Luisile is right with all, and dont threat peple here!

@Admins @STLcardsWS @DeViL303 @Berion are you ok with that?

A replacement 5000 series fan (even if not original) is a perfectly valid fan. It is even more valid given the noctua fans requires you to 3D print a bracket so it works. Not everyone has a 3D printer.

He didn't need to say "if its too much effort" and then proceed to insult the user for being lazy. The way he is posting he is always condescending to his fellow ps2 forum users. If you claim you would have replied the same as he did - then you are also a lost cause.

Have you ever tried the replacements? I Guess not because you would not write this. Original NOS fans does not exists and Direct replacements start to sound freaking like jet after just few hours of work. I tried diferent sources All are the same. In my setup i used old oem fan i just lubricated the fan with sewing mashine oil. I will not go the route with the old thick noctua fan. This new thin fan mod IS in my opinion way better. I have the 3d printed parts already Home just waiting for the fans. And it is definitely not too much effort to do it!
