So I got a ps4 and it is a cuh-12XXX with a base firmware of 2.51, with a digital download game. When I first plugged it in and powered it up I was immediately greeted with a message saying a system software error had occurred. Yeay!!! That is obviously what every new PS4 owner wants to experience upon initial boot. Then after the standard setup a notification appeared telling me my new PS4 was downloading the latest firmware. This was during the time when the PSN was offline then an hour or two later i it was "down for maintenance".

So if the PSN was offline meaning I can't register my account or download netflix or even use the friggin internet browser, or download game updates or redeem the game voucher code that came with my PS4, just a simple question here why in the world was it able to find the latest firmware update and actually download it.? I guess its good to know that even if the PSN goes down or gets hacked or whatever. We can always count on our PS4's updating themselves.

Do not allow your PS4 access to the internet before you familiarize yourself with the user interface.

PS4 will begin and follow trough with the download of the latest firmware even if the PSN is offline.

Whats that TLDR thing?

I don't know Cause I am the kind of weirdo who actually reads what was written...
 
Well the update is kinda how the PS3 works when we can grab PKG file updates without contacting PSN as they are actually outside of PSN. Same thing with system software updates. So PSN is attacked its not making a call to it. And my PS4 never saw PSN till firmware 3.0 despite having since 1.01 as I just installed updates that came with my games. Went from 1.01 to 1.76 to 3.00 and finally on 3.11.

Really have no clue what you mean by TLDR. What I HATE about the PS4 is you must be online to read the manual and you have to be on PSN to view your trophies. That is so LAME!! I don't like how PSN feels forced upon me being an offline gamer.

We need to be logged in to the PSN just to view the trophies? That is lame.

Over all though I guess I am satisfied with the PS4. Its a fun little thing.

Do you know if there is a way to get into the hdd or even the backup? I have the PT silent hills demo pkg.
 
No way of installing that pkg besides a PSN account that already has it. You can trick your PS4 via proxy to grab and install from Sony's servers still. Luckily I was able to grab that already. It's an awesome system I am very fond of it myself. More so then my PS3 by this time. Some truly awesome games are already out for it and many more to come. I haven't played anything else but then again I am HIGHLY addicted to Bloodborne. I have competed it twice and on NG++ ATM and just got to lvl225 today. The side quest and the increased difficulty keeps me coming back again and again.

I have only played iNFAMOUS SECOND SON and FIRST LIGHT, I also have the demo for trials fusion and I rented just cause 3.

I did buy arkham knight And it was strange because I saw the price tag and it said 59.99 but when it was processed through the register I only payed 39.00 I really wanted to tell the retailer about the mistake that was made but If that retailer cannot get they're price's in order( I saw assassins creed unity priced at 37.99(used) while it was in the less than 30.00 section and that is total crap because I know where to buy it online NEW at less than 20.00) Screw that retailer If they undercharge me then I would normally own up to the fact that I was undercharged BUT they had that previously mentioned assassin game in the under 30.00 section and yet the price of the game(used) was 37.99 so screw them.

After all the preorder cards with the 12 digit codes that came with my retail copy of arkham knight(that I bought yesterday, I did not ever pre order anything other than Yakuza 5) if you consider the fact that I was prepared to pay 59.99 but ended up paying 39.99 then factor in the value?/ price of the multiple redemption codes I found in my game case and I actually ended up paying less than then 39.00.
 
Nah Arkham knights dropped that low and has tons of PS4 exclusive DLC, Unity is only $20 playit and you will see why. Buggy as all hell and not even enjoyable. Th Order 1886 is only $10 new,short as in beat if first sitting short but for $10 new its a beautiful game.

Order 1886... I got platinum on that game. When i was thinking something interesing starting here after 6 hours of game, ending movie attacked me.. 10$ is perfect price for that game.

Edit: But this doesn't mean is not worth to play anyway.
 
Only downside is the lackluster weapons. But those that paid $60 for that I am sure are super pissed off. Game is gorgeous and yes its my only PS4 platinum though I am close on Bloodborne, was even closer till Old Hunters came out. That game is tough, more so then Dark Souls IMO. It's unforgiving and relentless. When you level up so do the enemies and each NG+ is tougher then the last. I'm NG++ and still finding new stuff and side quest lines though I will have them all done this NG++. I have spent hundreds of hours on this game as I can't put it down. Got about twenty games I need to play other then this still in shrink wrap. Recently hit lvl300 grinding and since patch 1.09 I can finally farm for bloodrocks to get all weapons to lvl10 as before that there was only one per NG, the visceral attacks and parry must be mastered to progress after NG+. Best game ever IMO none has ever held my attention like this not even close.

I finished Wither 3 now is time for Bloodborne. I think next week i buy it. :)
