newb with continuous questions posted here :D

Another good thing about WebMAN and WebMAN MOD is if you have your phone connected to the same network as your PS3 and you enter your PS3's IP address in the address bar you can do all this from your phone's web browser or your PC web browser.

If your not going to mod you should be fine without anti-ban eboots. I would check the BLUS codes just to be sure.

I can tell you how to install the waves using MultiMAN.

1. Put your lines.qrc file onto a usb stick and put the usb in your ps3 (doesn't matter which one for this) The open MultiMAN.

2. Once in MultiMAN find the "Settings" column ans scroll all the way down till you find "Write Access to /dev_fash" and select enable.

3. The go to the mmCM/MultiMAN column and select "File Manager/mmOS" end select it. You should now be on a creen that looks like a Windows Desktop. Use the analogue sticks to control the arrow.

3. Move the arrow over the "PS3 Root" folder. it should be in the top left hand corner of the screen. and double tap x to open and a window should appear. Use the left analogue stick to move the window about.

4. First open the usb you have, should be either "dev_usb000" or dev_usb001" (unless you have a multi USB adaptor attached to your PS3) find your "lines.qrc" file press "o" on it then highlight "copy" using the d-pad and press "x". You should get a little message saying "copied to clipboard". Now you can close the window with the x in the top right or leave it open.

5. Open "PS3 Root" again and you should see "dev_blind" open this for a new window. then open the folders in this order as they appear - vsh/ resource/ qgl, you should now see a file in this folder called "lines.qrc" this is where it is stored in the flash memory.
Hover the arrow over the file and press "o" then "paste". You should get a message saying "do you want to overwrite the file" and say yes.

6. Now you need to restart the PS3 by going down to the little button in the bottom left hand corner of the screen that would be where the "Start menu" on the windows task bar would be. Press x on it then select "restart system" to restart your PS3.

When your PS3 restarts your new waves should be active. Also as a general rule always restart your PS3 after modifying the flash files.

You may also want to give this a look for quick and easy xmb mods with this faf on as its 1 click install from the XMB for them all.

Some of them are quite good.
hi again :3 thanks!
just to confirm, im safe to access COD games like bo1 bo2 Online without any messing around if im not modding? but i need psn patch to re-enable the psn store before booting the game is all? wat happens if im in game online and hit psbutton then press select+start to see my webman console temps, is that bad and detectable or disabled by psnpatch so im not even able to do that?

You should be fine as long as your not modding. I use an anti ban eboot anyways, but that's just me as i cannot stand messing about if i do want to host a private modded match.

PSN Store should work after you have disabled the SYSCALS with PSN Patch, I have just re-downloaded all my BO2 DLC literally 5mins ago because for some stupid reason Nuketown2025 started to refuse to boot online in MP, just stayed at the loading screen lol and its free with one of the game updates lol.

About the temp thing I have never did it that way when online, I normally use my phones web browser of PC web browser to keep an eye on the temps with webMAN and wmMOD. It shouldn't be disabled by PSN unless you have Disable homebrew when syscals are disabled in PSN Patch menus but i am not to sure about this.

Basic steps for playing a game online.

1. Mount the game to the XMB using multiman or whatever backup manager you are using.
2. Then disable SYSCALS with PSN Patch.
3. Sign into PSN.
4. Boot the game.

( This is the way I do things anyways, I always sign into PSN before booting the game, mainly for BO2 GSC Injector can cause the game to crash if I sign in on the MP Main Menu )

Oh and if your on BO2 look out for someone torturing people without using mods lol. That would be me lol. Am always top of the lobby :Deven when other's are modding.

Mods in Public / League MP matches = NO SKILL

Here's a clue to know if its me [ELTE] Elite Clan Tag and Prestige Master (with 3 Accounts on BO2)

thank you for the reply!! O:!
LOL id feel like a target practice/stastistic if i got into BO online right now XD

so about the disable homebrew(while online in game i presume)., this is an optional option? do u use that? so far i kinda gathered ppl should avoid using homebrews aftr disabling syscalls? or maybe that disable homebrew is one of those unknown factors nobody knows anything about?...

PSN Patch has an option to disable Homebrew when the syscals are disabled. It's in the Toolbox option when you open the app. Once enabled, everytime you try to use a Homebrew app with the syscals disabled you will get an error message. Easy way to check its working, enable it, disable the syscals and try to use something like multiman. No its common knowledge, or supposed to be, to never to use Homebrew when signed into PSN, but are those who think they know best and end up getting banned then complaining about it.

Everyone is fair game on BO1 & BO2 to me, especially the "noob" lol. Nice way to rack up my K/D, score per minute, level up on a new account and Target practice:D, but the only way to get better is to get beat repeatedly by better players, that's the way I learned.

I really couldn't care less about winning or losing a match as long as I am top of the lobby :D.

I normally only play Hardcore Team Death matches and team Death matches as finding players in the other lobbies is scarce now. There's only about 10,000 people online at the min.

Yesterday I don't know if everyone was just plain blind or shite, running past enemies in plain sight and not taking a shot. One match I ended up carrying the team with a 65/5 K/D for a match win. :D

And today some French dude decided to keep running the same way on a map so everytime I heard footsteps to my right I would just hit the deck and wait for him to come round the corner, got him about 8 or 9 times in a row :D before he got the hint and went another way. Then multiple more times with the 'noob tube' ( under barrel grenade launcher ) I was laughing something rotten by the end of the match down the mic and that just made him rant and rave even more which made me laugh even more:D. The next match he was on my team and took to following me about trying to kill steal so I kept throwing flash grenades in his face :D

Two of the best games ever made for online play BO1 and 2.

i read bguervilles reply to someone about webman and good general setup tips=
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/webman-with-rebug.11258/#post-57634

jus wondering if there universal and can apply for me ?(i have cech-e01 console n latest rebug n a webman full install on it)

do you know if for the ps2-only fan speed. i can safely change that to some lower value ? to make it less stressfull on my ears lol? (can anyone share some settings they perhaps use?)

also from my limited temperature testing the cpu runs at66 rsx 53 and fan at 27%duty
then aftr some light gaming to try and stress the rsx a bit the cpu is at 67 rsx59 and fan at 36% duty
it dosent seem like temperature is a big issue from my small testing and what i read on general ps3 temps.
(but other than the ps2 turbine sound effects issue) do you think i need to change webman/rebugs default fan settings to keep the cpu around 65?

The minimum ps2 temp value is 33. Under that value (32-), the fan control is passed back to official syscon control iirc, I checked this in wMM source a while ago.
You could try lowering the manual fan speed from 36 to 34 maybe & see if the max CPU temp remains under say 74/75 max.
The ps2 fan setting is also the one applied when turning off wMM (if wMM fan control is enabled in settings), for example when you trigger psnpatch to connect to PSN. Online game sessions end up using this setting too.

It's noise vs temps at the end of the day & the cooler a chip runs the better. Currently under 70, your temps are good. Above 70 is not as good but keep in mind that's with ofw, temps are most likely above 70, that's how s#ny decided the cooling to be...

Oh & remember to test temps in 2 situations. When idle & immediately after playing 20mn of a demanding high resolution game.. The latter should be your reference point though.

That reply has some good info in it. And always good advice from @bguerville

As for the temps when you play PS2 game the system will go into PS2 mode, playing PS2 games put more stress on the system than some PS3 games, which i think is odd but it does. Temp control on them old Phat PS3's I think is essential to keeping them going as the hardware isn't as good as the Slim's or SuperSlim's.

I don't have a Phat, nor have i ever owned one because of the hardware issue's that can crop up with them, the RSX's are prone to failure on these models because of the lack of good heat dissipation but a cared for console lives longer. For example I have only recently stopped using my original PS2 Phat, it still runs like the day I got it because it was well maintained, and I got this PS2 3-4 months before they were even sold to the public ( I have my ways, and also helps when you family that are game devs lol) . Thermal pads where replaced once a year and the console was cleaned out 2 times a year and the laser lens the cleaned the same.

So back to the issue of fan speeds and temps on PS3. For me my 2 PS3 Slims rarely reach 65*C on the CELL or RSX, as I have the fan set to a constant speed, starts at boot of the PS3, of about 38% speed, its a bit loud but i personally don't care as I cannot hear it when gaming as I use a Turtle Beach Gaming Headset, and for PS2 games I have it set to 42% speed.

To me it would be all about finding that balance between good temp control and tolerable noise, if you have to make your PS3 sound like an F/A 22 Raptor Fighter Jet taking off to keep temps under control then you have some serious issue's, if your temps start climbing to 80*C then its a major issue that could damage the RSX or even kill it with these old PS3's. If you have never taken this PS3 apart and cleaned all the dust out of it then maybe it worth doing as dust acts like an insulator contributing to heat build up and also block the vital heat dissipation fins of the heat sink.

Another thing to consider is the thermal paste, if it has never been replaced then this could be an option as well, as I can tell you the stuff S@ny put on is crap and half the time doesn't even have enough on so proper heat conduction and dissipation through the heat sink. As your temps appear to be not to bad for the age of the console then doing some stress tests on it would help you judge what steps to take, by stress test i would play high demend game such as GTA5, or MGS4 or 5 and see what the temps are after playng for while. And then do the same with a PS2 game. With webMAN MOD you can monitor the temps of your PS3 by holding the START + SELECT till a message appears in the top right hand corner of the screen telling your temps.

if anyone is still reading my shitty thread of endless questions(thank you cause yu are awesome~!!); well i have a new questions=

which of these games is most fun(well to you i guess) and most gpu demanding in your experiences? =
Crysis 3
Metal Gear Solid Rising
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero
Doom 3

Both the MGS games are mint. Rising is a hack & and slash button bashing class metal gear spin off, you play a Ryden as a cyborg nija that can literal pick up metal gears and throw them round for fun ( " Jack is Back " - Jack the Ripper[Ryden] ) and chop people up in 100 parts, literally!

Metal Gear Solid 5 is good but only a small game as it is the prequel to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain (awesome game) the game is still good as this is set after the event of MGS3 Snake Eater and you play as Big Boss. Has small storey to it and plenty of other side missions.

The others I have not play yet, the last Doom i played was the first one for PC. Crysis 3 was a really demanding game to the point it used to shut down original PS3s because of the temps it would cause them to reach from what i have been ready. Similar to a few other games.

I Highly recommend the MGS games to play, but don't just take my word for it as they are my favourite game series of all time and Metal Gear Solid fore the PS1 was rated as one of the greatest game's every made for the PS1.

This is what I have:

1. Mount the game to the XMB using multiman or whatever backup manager you are using.
2. Then disable SYSCALS with PSN Patch.
3. Sign into PSN.
4. Boot the game.

Step 2,5: (Optional) but it can not hurt in my view did it many times
When you disable syscalls (any app) it will also delete history files (a good thing) but then we have an empty log.
Honestly i do not think it matters, but hey could be a potential flag.

Before signing it run Netflix and when ask for a sign leave,
Try another OFFICIAL app like Hulu or another service.
To build a proper log .. Just so it was not empty. (over time could it matter?? anyone's guess..)

Its just my method I have drilled into my head, its kept me from being banned so far. Both PS3's on CFW have been using there original CID info for years. (not now with the new storehaxx, they both look like my SuperSlim to the PSN Servers) I guess I never stopped to think about the log file having some kind of official apps on it so it looks a bit more legit than completely blank if and how this info is used by the PSN Servers, i will defo agree that we have no clue as to how its used. The only thing it used to have on it was amazon video, but then i started to use the no psn version as signing into psn when it has nothing to do with it was doing my head in, just another way for them to monitor what your doing. And they use this info for marketing and product development in the future ( I don't think so S@ny, I know my rights to privacy thank you very much, snoops )

Thank's for that bit extra insight and info. Its got me thinking now :D

The problem with the empty log is if you think in it in combination with other PS3 info sony have in his servers
As example...
Lets say you have several trophies installed and unlocked from several games in your PS3... but the log is empty (so it means you have not booted any game)
How can you unlock trophies without booting the game in OFW ? o_O
Is imposible... if sony crosscompare the info about your trophies stored in PSN servers when you "sync" them... with the log they knows you have a CFW

Or that your hard drive went out and you had to replace it :P
This goes out the window if done repeatedly, lol.

Or that your hard drive went out and you had to replace it :P

In the exact moment you replace (or format) the hdd you dont have any trophy in it
After that... if you sync your account to PSN the server can send you the trophy data (from your previous hdd)
But at that time they can make a request to your boot log and keep a record of it in the servers

Lets say... you format hdd, and in the first sync sony sends you trophy data from 10 games on december 2018 and your boot log is empty
Couple of weeks later you sync trophies again and you have new trophies for 2 new games... but your boot log is empty o_O
This should trigger a red flag in his servers if they does that kind of checks, and is easy to do because all that info is send to the server

---------------
An alternative way to "nuke" the boot log in OFW is if appears a bad sector in the hdd exactly in the position where is stored the boot log
This should "corrupt" the boot log... and i guess the firmware have some manteinance functions to regenerate it... or is going to force you to reinstall the firmware
If this happens, the new boot log should be empty

What about if we were able to generate this log to look legit?
IE: Fill it with random titles

Probably couldn't be random if you wanted to sync trophy's as the time stamps on the trophy's wouldn't match the log file. But if people aren't bothered about that then could be an idea.

For people who are bothered about trophy's, a way to selectively remove the parts of the log that pertain to homebrew and other CFW related stuff could be a solution for this.

Make both look as legit as possible.

Might have to play a game, earn some new trophy's and compare the timestamps on them, to whats on the log file and investigate this.

(i wanna play snake eater before doing those others in the series, but a stealth run with a katana sounds awesome lol)

omg haha me too , doom(first one) was probably the first videogame i ever played as a kid , it was the coolest thing ever when operating systems sucked and dial up existed XD
thanks for the replies n stufs :)

You gotta go back further than that to get the storey behind Metal Gear Solid Saga, all the games are linked to one massive storey line that spans 18 games, 14 main story, sequels, spin offs and remake and a few special edition with extra features across 22 years of gaming and multiple platforms and they all jump back and forth through the timeline of the storey set in the metal gear universe.

It is the most immersive story line I have ever known and has been maned as one the best Game Saga Series of all time. Japanese Manga based, so cinematic that its like a fully interactive film, its the farther of all stealth games as this was the first ever, its Japanese gaming at it best by the legend that is Hideo Kojima.

There are three Game series in the Saga, Metal Gear, Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Rising.

One game could be forward, the next set before this game: And it all stared with the NES ( Nintendo ) back in 1897. This I what I mean:
