Good afternoon.
I am having trouble running Final Fantasy X through PS2 Classics Placeholder on my CECH-3001A PS3 Slim running PS3HEN.
On 2 TVs, I get a "No signal" error when running the encrypted BIN.ENC file, either as "Final Fantasy X.BIN.ENC" or "ISO.BIN.ENC" inside the PS2U10000 folder.
Neither changing the resolution to 480p nor encrypting by other means (PS2 Classics GUI, Multiman, or Apollo Save Tool) changes the problem.
I have verified that the .ISO file is correct through redump. The encryption tools are also working properly, since I have used PS2 Classics GUI and Multiman to encrypt Gran Turismo 3 and Final Fantasy X-2 successfully. These games boot successfully, and only Final Fantasy X has problems.
Since the ISO file is legitimate, and the tools to encrypt it are working, I am completely stumped as to what the problem is.
I have also tried booting with and without the correct config file from Aldo's Tools' database, to no avail.
I would greatly appreciate any help people can provide. This is a very strange error, but I would love to play this game on my PS3, if possible.
Good afternoon.
The problem has been fixed, thank God.
I first attempted to encrypt and run the PAL version, and JP "International" re-release of the game. I transferred the files via USB to my PS3, and encrypted them with Apollo Save Tool.
I did the same encryption process with the USA version of the game (transfer ISO to PS3 using a USB, encrypt using Apollo Save Tool). And now.......... it just works.
Looking at my previous ISO of the USA version on my USB drive, the checksum does not match that of redump.org. So the issue wasn't in the original ISO file, nor in the encryption tools on PS3, but rather my file getting improperly copied over FTP and my USB drive to my PS3.
This seems like the most obscure error that could have caused this, but at least I know now, TO CHECK FILE INTEGRITY WHENEVER THERE IS EVEN A WHIFF OF CORRUPTION THAT COULD CAUSE ERRORS.
