PS2 Noob OPL issues

Kurtz

Forum Noob
Hi
I had just started in the world of OPL on PS2.
I have :-
PS2:-scph-30003
Driver:- 1.10
OPL:- v1.2.0-Beta-2216-bb415d
OPLManager:- v24

Freemcboot:- 1.966
Running from a:- Memcard Pro2 on latest firmware

I have 2 issues that I have searched for but cannot find much.

OPL 2216 was taken from a memcard1 image available on youtube.
Seems to run relatively ok with OPL manager enabling ART.

As with everything as a first timer I was looking to see how old 2216 is and if needs updating and have become aware of the complicated history.
But Im still none the wiser as to where 2216 sits in the world of age....I cannot seem to find a mention of it.
Am I missing something?
So despite this 2216 works automatically , seeing and playing most games.

I have followed the link to the latest Beta, downloaded and tried that
But i get the issue where when it looks for the dvd folder games it doesnt see them only the device.
I then searched and saw threads with this exact problem saying use Beta 207 & 2194 specifically with this problem.
Tried both and all I get is the device and cannot see the DVD folder again.
Yet go back to 2216 and it works perfectly again.
This kinda says to me that Im missing setting a path or something in these other versions?
Can anybody please point me in the direction?

Also, OPLManager ...all loads, all works, had to rename a few due to name length but all in all works.
I manually renamed them using the format required..
When it boots into the games (in 2216) it will get halfway through the list , lose the Artwork and then OPL will not load any other games requiring me to totally turn power off and on again but every time I can only get so far down the list that it does this...A real pain.
As Im writing this I happened across a thread that mentioned the renaming may be to blame?
Think (Did a lot on first setup) I tried the OPL inbuilt tool but that failed so I renamed them manually.
Any suggestions? the game renaming?

Thank you for your patience

I've since removed all "renamed" games but to no avail. Still the same.

Any help please?
Sorry cannot post in actual correct forum due to new member limitations..

Hi Kurtz,

I'm in same boat as you, running OPL off a memcard pro 2 and games sometimes stop loading artwork. Seems like it just stops reading off the SD card entirely, since games can't be loaded after, and even saved game configs can't be seen after.

One thing that's been a helpful workaround for me is using L1 and R1 to page through my list more quickly. Not sure what's happening on back end but getting to my game more quickly definitely helps mitigate the issue.

Hi Somadaydream

thanks for the reply and suggestion.

I had no other replies here or in the other forum.

BUT I figured out it was OPL manager that was somehow responsible.
I re did the sd card with no opl ART involved and it runs perfectly!

Bit annoying but at the end of the day I'd rather it all runs well than a bit of box art.

still running 2216 of OPL and still none the wiser as to how it figures in things as the new release of the beta today is 2210!
So really don't know how that all works..

Bar about 3/4 titles I've got almost all running successfully WITHOUT the OPL art manager..

hope that helps a bit
Keep in touch if you figure out the release numbering!‍♂️

I'm working on merging this mmce build with the latest from the original maintainers. I'm working through some ps2-mmce/ps2dev merged build failures.
