PS3 NoPSN Apps

Looks like I missed an earlier question. I've tried to use Wine for several Windows apps, but usually run into dependency/DLL issues. I just went ahead and installed VirtualBox, then set up a Windows 7 VM. I got the Tools all set up, but haven't had a chance to look into the individual files yet. I'll try to find some time this afternoon (Central US-based).

Any tips on how to figure out exactly what it is about that one system that allows it to work? I vaguely remember reading about grabbing the apps.sprx, but I could be way off here. I'm just wanting to do a comparison of the working and non-working versions that are installed. I took a quick peek at the param.sfo for a couple of PKGs I have, but that wasn't very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Ok if you are interested I will explain how to patch Netflix step by step. It's quite simple.
Here are the tools I use:
1. PS3 Tools Collection 2.7.40 (get it from the resources section).
Most commands used in this process are found in the context menu, just right click on a file to get the options or on the folder to build a new pkg.
2. Trueancestor Self Resigner 1.98 (get it from the resources section also)
3. Hex File editor (I use HxD but any decent hex editor will do fine)

In short, get a compatible Netflix original pkg EU or US & extract it using PS3 Tools PkgView utility. So far the latest known compatible versions are EU 1.04 & US 2.23 but it might be worth trying other more recent builds.
Browse the extracted folder to locate the app.sprx file in USRDIR.
Open app.sprx (Open (View info) context menu entry) to keep note of both the ContentId & the klicensee, you will need those for custom signing later.
Decrypt the sprx by using the Extract ELF/PRX command from PS3 Tools context menu.
Open the resulting prx file with an Hex File Editor & search the string PSNLoginRequired=true to replace true with false then save the file. As a general rule you should not delete true then type false but just type false over true, this way the file size won't change. There is only 1 occurence.
Now you need to reencrypt (resign) the prx . I use TrueAncestor Self Resigner for this. Copy the app.prx into the self folder of Self Resigner installation folder.
Choose Custom Signing and use the ContentId & klicensee that you got earlier from the original file.
Go back to your original file tree & replace the app.sprx with this new modified version.
Now you need to spoof the version to the latest version number 1.13 for EU and 2.26 for US. To do that simply open the param.sfo with the Param.sfo Editor utility in PS3 Tools. Change the App. Ver, to the necessary value (1.13/2.26).
Remove any files that is not part of the pkg (like the temporary app.prx file)
Finally use the Make pkg command from PS3 Tools to recreate a pkg.
The result is a noPSN pkg spoofed to the latest app version!
Install & enjoy.

Hope it helps.

Here is a patched EU version of Netflix NPEB00874.
I tested it & it works great for me... Same as Netflix US spoofed to 2.26...
The app looks very similar despite using a totally different set of files.
I believe it's the same app but relying on a different framework, possible qt. I would need to investigate closer to be sure.
Anyway, it is a EU package v1.04 (not recent) which I patched for noPSN and spoofed to v1.13 which is currently the latest EU version.
This 1.04 pkg was handy and it works so I didn't look for a more recent release to patch.
I will make one if required but first let's see if this pkg helps...:tranquillity:

Thank you. I can confirm that this version works perfectly, no servers errors. I'm from Spain. I had the same errors with the servers with the US version. Perhaps the recent blocking of US Netflix in the rest of the world is the problem?

Sorry for my poor English.

that's a possibility. not aware if they're blocking other parts of the world. it would explain connection errors. however, that one user had 3 systems with one of them connecting unless it's region had been changed. the patch wouldn't affect those errors, so that's not responsible. maybe an issue with netflix itself?

I just wanted to thak you and remedee for your answer to this issue. I was having the same problem, trying to find a solution for this for months. This should be the answer. I tried several no psn netflix (USA version), but none seems to work. really appreciate.

I dunno..
A location based system could have been introduced in newer versions but not older ones...??
Now there's this user who seems to have problems with server connection after streaming for a few minutes via the Netflix EU pkg. He says he had the same issue on 3 systems... (weird coincidence, 3 consoles again! [emoji5]️)
I don't have this problem myself & nobody reported this type of issue so far...

To all users who want to help!
I suggest to all those who have had problems with the US version & have moved on to this EU pkg to report here any success or failure so we can be sure...

In any case, some success using proxy/VPN has also been reported. I know I have already said it but if someone who experiences server connection errors wanted to test that workaround & report his/her findings, it would be very useful. [emoji6]

I have to test it, in a few days I will reply. I live in south america, argentina.
I have to say that until past year I was able to use the netflix US version, but was having freeze issues while I use it (having to do a hard reset to the PS3. my model is a CECH-2501A, and after encountering this freezes, I opted to do a downgrade (HABIB 999), then OFW 3.55, then kmeaw 3.55, and finally CFW FERROX 4.80 COBRA 7.30 cobra, and then started the servers failure with netflix.

Also I must say im having a spoof issue (with SEN Enabler v6.0.2 [CEX-DEX] [4.80]), after disable it, it says Im in cfw 4.80, but spoof to 4.78. I dont know if this could be related, but well.... as soon as I test it, I will give my report

I don't think the Netflix issue is related to the spoofing issue.

However you should fix it because it's bound to be a source of problems for you.
Why did you try to spoof the version anyway? You were already on 4.80...

Yes I don't think the occasional freeze has anything to do with the EU 1.04 pkg or the patches.
I also had that with US version 2.23!!

Well, I dont remeber well when this started. I believe I installed a spoof 4.78 over another spoof (4.76) when I was in cfw habib 4.46 cobra. Then, I update to habib 4.76, and when i was checking sen enabler info of the system, it always apears with the same cfw and spoof I am, (ex - CFW/SPOOF - 4.80 / 4.80) I dont know if this has something to do with the internal flash of the PS3 or not. I can use everything without issue ( online games, psn games, load games, etc) i also tried several times to re install the same CFW by safe menu, rebuilding database and restore file system.

For the netflix results, I must say im having same issue (random freeze and crash ps3) as other users. I also encountered this when my US netflix was working in my ps3 a few months ago. I believe is a ps3 internal issue (memory?¡?) or something else, but not an app problem. Thanks for your support

Any chance of building the newest eu version to test? I know it didnt work for you bguerville but it may work for us in EU region? Just a thought i had so no worries if you cant.

Am not sure, someone else might know...
We can easily try though...[emoji5]️
Do you have this newest pkg handy? The one in this thread is 2.12.

Unfortunately, I do not have an updated PKG. I found a few tutorials on how to grab the PKG but my PS3 is not PSN ready at this moment so I can't download the PKG from the store without running the risk of getting my PS3 banned. I will work on changing this so I can get this PKG for you. Thank you for your time!

I will patch it & pkg it tomorrow.
Then you can try it for us!

Also I managed to get a hold of 3 other Netflix EU packages including the latest 1.06, 1.12 & 1.13.
No time tonight for this, but I will patch them soon to see if we can get better than 1.04 working.... [emoji6]
