What's a genuine pkg if not a PlayStation Store (PSN) pkg?
Where does the pkg come from?
If it comes from PSN Store then it requires licensing & needs HAN.
If it was lifted from a disc, is it npdrm for starters?
 
Hey, after a bit more than a month of using HAN, I just wanna thank you so much for this guide.
I was very lost regarding this whole situation and your guide is perfectly made for people like me, it was really really helpful and I probably wouldn't have even dared to try and install it without it.
That's all I wanted to say, thanks a lot for putting this together!

Genuine PS2, PS1 .PKG downloaded directly from psn store, like ***PlayStation Store*** website or ***PlayStation Store***. Install .PKG from native games PS3 is ok, but how instal PS1, PS2, PSP .PKG?

This wonderful tutorial teach to create a custom PS1, PS2, PSP .PKG and works for me, no problems. But what I really know is.. How Install a PS1, PS2, PSP .PKG downloaded directly from PSN store, not a custom .PKG created from a .ISO.

I use the same method used normally used in games of the ps3 itself (install game .pkg, create a .pkg from .rap and install both) but games genuine PS1, PS2 .pkg don't works.

Hey man.. So I made the pkgs and I used the web server to push it to ps3. I waited like 2 hours to install the large file, then went to install the small file with just the eboot in it and it said a later version is already installed. No need to install this version... The game didn't show up.. Where do I go wrong? Also how can I delete the 12 gb file from my Playstation? Obviously it didn't work and I'm sure the files are on here

I guess it's the game id issue we talked about. Try changing param.sfo of the small pkg to NPUBXXXXX & try install it again.

Is it normal for that to happen? How do I delete those files from my ps3? I was already low on space and the game was 12 gb. It's not in my games list to delete

You will still need the 12Gb pkg installed so you should not remove it yet.
First try remaking the small pkg with the NPUBxxxxx gameid in param.sfo & install it. If it fails you can always uninstall everything from the gamedata section on XMB.

So I went to do the process again, when I installed the pkg list pkg from the pkglinker program the ps3 turned off and now I'm staring at the "connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button" did I break something? Also I don't have a ps3 controller with a port on it.. Only an aftermarket.. How fuc*ed am I?

Nothing broken, it's a standard procedure when a system error comes up, it means nothing really at this stage. Believe me, I have had that screen about a hundred times since the start of the year doing dev work.. Lol
However you need a gamepad using USB cable to continue! Having such a pad is a requirement as this recovery screen can come up at any time especially when you fiddle with the system and/or the games.
More to the point, you should avoid using non official pads, most of those are really dodgy.. A real pad, even 2nd hand, is an investment you should make.

it's taken care of. When I create the pkg with the edited param file it says title NPUB differs from BLUS. Illegal package PARAM. SO check fail. What's up with this? EDIT. Sat through another install, no game showed up.. Man I give up this is just a waste of time. I'm doing everything as instructed and it doesn't work..

Im having a small problem guys, everytime i install the rap for my game, it works flawlessly! But when i quit and want to play one of my legit games it doesnt work anymore and gives me error 80029517
I tried restarting the Ps3 then trying again
Nope nothing /:
I have to sign in psn and reactivate my account to make my legit games work! But my HAN games wont work anymore and i have to reinstall the rap again but then im stuck in a loop

anyone help me with this

Yeah i know, but i resigned my rap using ps3resigner 2.1 and installed it on my ps3 and my game worked flawlessly, but when i reboot my console and want to play my legit games it will give me error 80029571
I have to sign in psn and reactivate my account to play my legit games, but then if i enable HAN and want to play signed games i have to install the rap file again but then it will wreck my legit games! Therefore a loop

You are meant to use 2 accounts. One for Legit purchases, one for HAN stuff. You can still play your games on 1 account, but do your HAN activating stuff on a separate throwaway account.

But it was working fine for me last night, i was able to play my HAN games and when i wanted to i would restart my ps3 and play my legit games totally fine!

Well everyone has been told to use a separate account for HAN because of this issue, if you want to try do it all on 1 account that is your own choice.

Not that I know of, when you modify your act.dat for HAN it wont work the same with your official games.

Its not really "difficult" to use a second account for activating games so that is what people seem to do for a workaround. :)
