PS3 HAN [OBSOLETE] [Tutorial] The Great PS3Xploit 3.0 HAN All In One Guide

This is the best guide, hands down.

Are there any instructions out there on how to make our own C00unlock.pkg as there are a few titles missing from the original file ?

Thank you in advance sirs.

I can't say it will work on han consoles, but there are several apps that can make a C00 pkg. I think all you need is the content id.

sO, I take it each and Every time I want to install an DLC, GAME Or Other App On tO My (ps3-Super-Slim) I have to Enable HAN On My PS3?????

And also everytime you want to play them. The exception to this is CFW2OFW games, but for all games requiring a licence you will need HAN enabled for installing AND booting them..

Is there a thread where a list of ps3 installed games and/or DLC that do not work with HAN or has some issues? The reason I ask is because I started playing an old game of Borderlands2 and have all the DLCs, but only one DLC freezes at a specific part of the story mission and I have to quit the game and restart it to play again, but still have not been able to get past that one loading screen issue. I wanted to know if other games/DLC had issues too or even possible fixes someone might have been working on.

Not sure about DLC but there is a compatibility list on psdevwiki HERE

The cfw2ofw method isn't without its flaws. While alot of games play perfectly fine, there is still quite a few that require an "Exclusive Method" or work-around in order to play them completely through, or to even start them up without issue. The compatibility list @Fin9ersMcGee mentioned is the best place to start. If the game IS playable, it will be highlighted in green, and if there is a specific fix for any certain game, it can be found in the details. Some games may require further investigation throughout this community, as well as a few other well-known sites.
It really depends on several factors if the game has a fix, first being how popular it is, then the demand for a fix, then it comes down to someone having the experience/knowledge to come up with a fix. Certain games will probably never see a fix, simply because there are too many unknowns, or it has been determined that it would be nearly impossible to get around a certain issue. Also with the activity in the PS4 development community, it may be possible that there is alot of talent that has shifted to the newer console.

Start with the cfw2ofw compatibility list, see if you can find the particular game you are looking for & if it has any known issues/fixes. If more information is needed, search for threads with conversations related to that game here at PSX-Place (As well as other reputable playstation modding communities that associate with cfw2ofw or HAN.) You may even have to search from google using the name of the game as well as keywords like PSX-Place or cfw2ofw fix. I can't assure you that you would find a specific fix, but I'd say there is alot more information on these forums that just what can be found on the compatibility list. (If the explanation is too vague, which isn't usually the case. The compatibility list is pretty good with determining if a game will work on its own.)

Okay guys, I am having an issue with pkg resigner 2.0. I dragged the main pkg file onto the resigner.exe and it seems to work for about half an hour then displays pkg signed and does more stuff after that it appears to be frozen or just taking a really really long time on the second part. How long should I wait? Until I see pkg signed a second time?

It seems to depend on the file size and PC processor ability, at least for me it did. An 8gb took me 43 mins, but most take less than 10 mins.

I also closed the window thinking it was done, but it might not have been. I didn't want to take a chance on wasting time by installing and find it didn't work.
What I do now to ensure I know its done, is put the pkg file into the 'input' folder and run the .bat. I always get a message to "press any key" and it closes.

Once this is done, navigate to the output > pkg folder, there you will find 2 files that have been signed. MOVE those two files to the rifgen-master folder. Now drag & drop the GAME_signed.pkg file onto ps3xploit_rifgen_edatresign and be patient, depending on its size, it may take a while and even appear to freeze at times. Once it is complete, do the same with the PKG_RIF-INSTALLER.pkg_signed.pkg file, which should finish almost instantly. Now you will have 2 files with "_signed.pkg_signed.pkg" at the end of their names. Those are the two you will need to transfer/install.
Also note that you must have your ACT.DAT and IDPS.HEX files in their respective folders in the INPUT folder before starting this whole process. Also for safety measures I placed a copy of these files in the rifgen-master folder, I can't recall right off if that is really required, but just to be safe they're there as well.
PS3 games can definitely take a long time to convert/transfer/install, but patience is key.

Yes, I had to wait for both of the windows to say press any key to continue then after pressing enter the window closed itself.
Just wait if you have a older pc like mine. Resigning MGS4 took over an hour on an i5 BTW.

Hey everyone! First I want to say that this is an A+ tutorial. I haven't had any experience with any PS3 hacking or exploits before this weekend, but I've been able to install and play backups just as described. Thanks @Fin9ersMcGee for compiling all this and the many others who have contributed. I went through the entire thread last night looking for answers to some questions about main account safety, but couldn't find anything, so I have them below.

1st scenario & questions:
I have installed PKG files the correct way and they load, but with some, I am notified that the game has an update (example: version 1.13). I am on my main account, I've enabled HAN to start the game, am I taking on extra risk updating the game on my account than I would if I didn't update it? Should we update games upon initially starting them? If so, is there a process for this, other than just clicking "ok" and accepting the download?

2nd scenario & questions:
I want to back up a game that I have purchased DLC for in the PSN store (map packs, levels, etc.) long ago. Should I be installing DLC that I download from the PSN store on my main account onto a backed up, HAN version of my game? OR should I find the DLC to install in the same backup method? OR OR is there some other option that I have not thought of? The motivation for this question is to maintain the safety when I play on my main account.

This dovetails with my final scenario, as both are generally about mixing content from the PSN store with backups.

I own a game that the has had DLC/support removed from the PSN store (license expiring, I have heard). I deleted it a while ago, but am wanting to play with it again. If I wanted to use my PS3 disc to play the game, could I install the DLC using the stated tutorial methods on my PS3 to play when I use my disc? If this is fine, would I have to enable HAN when using a disc based game with backed up DLC?

I'm sorry if these questions are duplicated elsewhere in the forums, I couldn't find them if they are. I understand that by even using the tutorial and methods that I am accepting certain risk, I just want to make sure that I am doing what I can to minimize that risk. Thanks to anyone who takes time to read and reply!

TL;DR Questions about account safety when updating games or mixing PSN store downloads/disc based games with backups.

Can somebody help me? I've been trying to convert a game with the PS3GameConvert v0.91 but when I click to select the folder the prompt window to select it doesn't show up. I've looked all around but I haven't found any way to fix it. Any help is appreciated

I'd also like to ask some help with the "Exclusive Methods" in the "CFW2OFW Compatibility List".
I've been looking for information on this for a few days now but either the people who mention that they've managed to do a conversion don't mention how they did it, or the information they give doesn't describe their process well enough.
For example for the "Demons Souls - BLES00932" the best information I could find is the one on the "CFW2OFW Compatibility List".
However the info is obviously intended for those who already know what they're doing, not ultra-noobs like me.
I'll write down what I've tried to do (and failed) and if I could get some corrections from someone I'd appreciate it.
1) I put the PS3_GAME folder in the "CFW2OFW Helper" folder
2) I edit the PS3_GAME\PARAM.SFO with Notepad++ and I replace "BLES00932" with "BCAS20071"
3) I run "CFW2OFW Helper.exe" which creates the LICDIR folder and it's contents, it downloads the
BCAS20071 patch (HP9000-BCAS20071_00-PATCH20090622000-A0104-V0103-PE.pkg) and it converts the game creating the folders "BCAS20071" and "NPAA20071".
4) I extract the BCAS20071 patch (HP9000-BCAS20071_00-PATCH20090622000-A0104-V0103-PE.pkg) using "TrueAncestor_PKG_Repacker_v2.45" and I copy the USRDIR\EBOOT.BIN file from the patch into both
"BCAS20071\USRDIR" and "NPAA20071\USRDIR"
5) I use the "Make Backup PKG" tool which creates the pkgs and then the PS3xploit-resigner-master tool to sign them.
6) I use "PKG Linker" to transfer the game to the PS3.
When I run the game it boots to a loading screen with the game logo in the lower left corner and then it goes to a black screen and just stays there.

I have no idea what "Use NPHA20071 as conversion directory" from the "CFW2OFW Compatibility List", means.
I'd obviously appreciate your help.

Hey, i got a wierd question. I got the following
  1. BD-DISC without GameUpdate BLES01989
  2. PSN-pkg without RAF File NPEB01936
Is there anything i can do for HAN?

Cheers
Blade

hey guys i have a noob question here, once HAN is installed can i delete the han support files?

if you mean delete it from your usb stick, then yes. you only need them for installing.
(or updating, ie. after you have customized some xml-files for changing your xmb)

Rename "NPAA20071" folder to "NPHA20071" and then make backup pkg... I haven't tried this myself but that's what I was getting from "Use NPHA20071 as conversion directory"

Hmm... What you can do is playing the game from Blu-ray disc.
