PS2 OEM HDD adaptor, SATA mod, Molex power?

I'm currently using a clone HDD adapter, but I'm looking at going with an OEM adaptor for the networking and then modding it for SATA. One thing I noticed is that the mod seems to leave the Molex power plug place. I don't need that, since I'm using a SATA SSD.

My question is this: if I mod an OEM network adapter for SATA, does the Molex plug still receive power? I'm considering doing a Noctua fan mod as well, but I'm thinking about running the fan to the (otherwise unused) Molex connector so it gets the full 12 volts. Does this sound like a workable idea, or am I missing something?

Im pretty sure that when you buy the kit to convert it to sata, the molex goes away and is changed to sata power. Not sure if there is a way to have both.
