PS3 Official PS3 Toolset Update (v1.2.007) Release (4.91 Support)

Following Sony firmware update of 4.91 for the PS3, developer's across the scene have been updating various exploits and tools. We have seen developer @Evilnat release his 4.91 PS3 Custom Firmware's earlier in the week. Then we recently just had @esc0rtd3w & @Joonie provide PS3HEN (& HFW) updated with 4.91 Support. Now we have developer @bguerville with an update to his PS3 Toolset to support the exploiting of 4.91 OFW for custom firmware installation for capable models.

The PS3 Toolset's - System Manager (SM) will allow for exploiting of the PlayStation 3 internal flash, to then allow for a CFW installation such as Evilnat's Custom Firmware. You must have a CFW capable model, the PS3 Toolset will determine if your console is CFW compatible.(All Fat Models and early Slim Models).

  • The PS3 Toolset v1.2.007 update is now live!
    A minor update.
    • 4.91 firmware support was added
    • custom syscalls type detection was fixed
    • idps/psid is now hidden by default in system manager
    • I used the opportunity to apply a few minor fixes as well.

A more comprehensive update enabling the file manager is currently being worked on and will be rolled out in due time, no ETA as always.

    Just for info.
A few changes were also made to the server, I hope it won't cause any issues.. we haven't experienced any during testing.
I assume I will get reports if there are new unexpected access problems.

Thanks to @esc0rtd3w for his patience and testing, night after night, various projects including mine.
    Thanks to @Evilnat & @littlebalup.
Thanks to all Toolset users who donated, your contributions keep the new site alive and updated, I may have a little candy just for you guys in the next update as a token of appreciation..

Right, hello. I'm back! I've just finished the nerve racking experience of using your tool. No reflection on you of course; just me being nervous about this whole thing and my lovely, yet clearly going down hill poorly, machine. It all seems to have gone without a hitch luckily. I hope that I did the correct thing by closing the browser once i was finished taking all my photos and having a look around your webpage (being carful not to access too much as I don't know what else might happen if I get trigger happy!) I didn't see an "exit" button or anything.

I see you've now "XXXX" out the IDPS and PSID fields (whatever those actually are. I think i can guess the second one, but not the first)

Where do I now post up my error log photo for discussion and advice please?

It's always smart to be cautious however there's not much you can do with the Toolset that can mess up your system so there's no real need to fret when using it. One would need to turn off the strict mode first to get access to riskier options, every feature you get with strict mode on (the default setting) should by design keep the ps3 safe from any potential mistakes.

Anyway now you have the logs I suggest you create your own thread and post your findings and issues description there, alternatively you could also post in the huge YLOD fault finding thread.

Excellent sir, thank you. Now that I've been through this experience once, I'll have more confidence in doing the same with my other PS3 consoles too. Even if just to find out if the people I've bought them off, are telling the truth about the console's history. Have I bought good ones as I hope/think, or have I been duped!? Time will tell.

Hello bguerville, my PS3 is slim CECH-2101A, compatible with CFW, but it is saying that the minimum applicable firmware is 3.65, I believe that someone before me changed the IDPS of another console, I can't fix it, what should I do? Do I do cfw anyway?

As long as the console is detected as cfw compatible by the Toolset, it means it uses the old metldr therefore you should be able to apply the patch and install a 4.xx CFW afterwards without issues, no matter the idps spoof however once QAed you would still experience issues trying to downgrade to 3 55 or whatever..

I've been a loyal private beta tester to EvilNat. am I still of any use for private beta testing? I have cech2001a and a Cech4301c plus a hardware flasher. PM me if interested.

Thanks for the clarification :)

I was talking to him, but he was hesitant to proceed with the process because of the warnings, so I suggested he ask you to ensure and reassure him.

Now he already is on CFW.

All our sites are currently down.
Tech support has already been contacted.
The issue will be addressed as soon as possible.
Thank you. I was one step away mid way to getting bricked. I was in the site about to JB one of my new PS3s when it went down.

I have never tried to simulate such an issue but AFAIK you shouldn't be able to brick that way, because the operations are done locally, the patching process itself, once started, doesn't require the internet to finish.
Oh ok that's good to hear. Man I was so excited to do this. If I had been even 10 minutes earlier I could have jb my PS3:( now I'm here sad and waiting lol.

sadly its the same thing for me

I was literally on the last step
I just went and used the Russian one. I used it for multiple PS3s 2 years ago when the ps3toolset was constantly down. It always works like a charm. But if you don't feel comfortable using that one. I'd wait for this one to be back up.

Sure, you used code stolen from me, helping those guys redirect donations etc..
And now you're advertising it..

I would laugh if it wasn't so sad..

It never worked like a charm (multiple consoles bricked support that claim). Do not spread misinformation on stolen, dangerous code here.
