PS3 Official PS3 Toolset Update (v1.2.007) Release (4.91 Support)

Following Sony firmware update of 4.91 for the PS3, developer's across the scene have been updating various exploits and tools. We have seen developer @Evilnat release his 4.91 PS3 Custom Firmware's earlier in the week. Then we recently just had @esc0rtd3w & @Joonie provide PS3HEN (& HFW) updated with 4.91 Support. Now we have developer @bguerville with an update to his PS3 Toolset to support the exploiting of 4.91 OFW for custom firmware installation for capable models.

The PS3 Toolset's - System Manager (SM) will allow for exploiting of the PlayStation 3 internal flash, to then allow for a CFW installation such as Evilnat's Custom Firmware. You must have a CFW capable model, the PS3 Toolset will determine if your console is CFW compatible.(All Fat Models and early Slim Models).

  • The PS3 Toolset v1.2.007 update is now live!
    A minor update.
    • 4.91 firmware support was added
    • custom syscalls type detection was fixed
    • idps/psid is now hidden by default in system manager
    • I used the opportunity to apply a few minor fixes as well.

A more comprehensive update enabling the file manager is currently being worked on and will be rolled out in due time, no ETA as always.

    Just for info.
A few changes were also made to the server, I hope it won't cause any issues.. we haven't experienced any during testing.
I assume I will get reports if there are new unexpected access problems.

Thanks to @esc0rtd3w for his patience and testing, night after night, various projects including mine.
    Thanks to @Evilnat & @littlebalup.
Thanks to all Toolset users who donated, your contributions keep the new site alive and updated, I may have a little candy just for you guys in the next update as a token of appreciation..

It never worked like a charm (multiple consoles bricked support that claim). Do not spread misinformation on stolen, dangerous code here.
I used it for multiple PS3s back then and just today. And it worked perfectly. I've tried it with 7 different PS3s. If it went wrong for some people, then Idk. In pointing my experience with it. When ps3tools is down, alternatives are nice to have. Actually read my comment. Not once did I spread misinformation.

Sure, you used code stolen from me, helping those guys redirect donations etc..
And now you're advertising it..

I would laugh if it wasn't so sad..
Ok come on now, that's a big reach. No need for hostility now, I didn't even mean anything bad. I didn't even know they took donations, or that they stole code. I'm just a user. I don't even know Russian. I saw it from a YouTube tutorial I had saved. I didn't even give a link either. Advertising is a stretch.

There's no hostility, if there were, that would be something else entirely, believe me. [emoji23]
And if you didn't know, now you do.

The project source is closed, has always been, any other source means it has to
be some old stolen code.

Well I now know at least. Sorry I really didn't know how any of this worked. I just saw alternative and my squirrel brain said yay.

Dawg it worked for 7 of my PS3s. Back to back. So yeah. Not misinformation.

You clearly don't want to understand. Promoting success because "it worked for you" doesn't mean it's success.

There is a whole thread (and tons of other posts) warning about the risks on using that stolen tool (you better read it): https://www.psx-place.com/threads/b...-for-4-82-4-89-by-p-px-team-is-a-fraud.39266/

That stolen code has been proven to brick consoles. So don't spread misinformation.

That tool was never safe, never will.

@bguerville

I was wondering the other day. Is it possible to make your tool available, free of the requirement to be connected to the internet to be able to access a webpage to carry out the required functions to make CFW console from an OFW one?

I was wondering if it could be put into a format that could be run from a USB stick instead, meaning you could make a complete transition from OFW to CFW without ever needing to put the console online to do it, meaning Sony shouldn't be able to catch on at what you're doing as long as you then continue to keep that console offline from the internet completely until such time as you put it back to OFW again (if you ever do of course).

I'm about to make an OFW console into CFW where the difference with this one is that I've had my cherished PSN account logged on to this console, and have the console currently activated with Sony too and I'm quite nervous at Sony knowing this change and blocking my PSN account as a result.

There's no such plan for the time being.

Fair enough, it was just a thought.

Is there any other method of doing what your site does which doesn't require dismantling the console and soldering etc (as that method I presume can be done offline)?

Yes, there is the old ps3xploit Flash Writer that's been updated by 3rd parties ever since we deprecated it a few years ago.
Am not sure whether a 4.91 update has been published yet though, if it hasn't yet, it's only a question of time.
There should be multiple threads on the topic in this forum, a quick search will get you what you're looking for.

Ok thank you. I'll stick to yours. I know that. I trust that. I just hope Sony don't ban my account by having to change to CFW in front of them. (No intention to log on to PSN, but this console is activated through them, and it's connected to my cherished PSN account.

Did anyone notice that @bguerville 's Toolset in memory manager has a Enable HAN function? Not sure if this is gonna be replaced though in the next rollout.
Also question for the Toolset if the full 3.60+ chain of trust ECDSA keys were found you guys will only use them in the PS3 Toolset and keep them private right?

At the very least people who create CFWs (e.g., Evilnat) would have to know them because the bootloader checks the signature every time the console boots.

The exploit used by bgtoolset actually works on all models, and technically you can use it to write CFW to the flash, even on super-slims, but without the proper signature you'd just brick them.

Yeah the toolset is pretty smart about the ECDSA thing for only 25xx and under since 30xx has a metldr.2 but luckily my console is a cech2001a so it's flashable and i fixed my eid0 with the old dump from ps3xploit.me since the toolset doesn't support firmware under 4.75 i saved of it before flashing CFW on it (MultiMan saved me big time from PERMA DEX but not a brick per se just stuck on DEX VSH)
I consistently even checked my dumps.
Yeah I made my backup right away before updating just in case
