PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

Did you tried for test to enable almost all modes 1+2+3+6?
From I remember mode 4 is for skipping FMV, mode 5 is for emulating DVD-DL,
so theoretically they may not be useful in this scenario.
Mode 7\8 is currently unused.

Why isn't anyone using OPL 1564 Daily Build? ATV FURY 3 is the only problem with that version I could find.lol IT freezes.

Well it's kind of moot now but anyway...

Tested Gran Turismo 4 SCES_517.19 from the original disc.

The micro stuttering during the track preview IS present with the original disc so this is not an issue with OPL.

Best regards.

Shadow of the Colossus
SCES-53326
SHA-1 = 34C3F1B4FBE6F9A340720CBC02CBE6947C817D73

SMB = Black screen after language, 50/60hz selection screen.

Sorry for late reply, I've been out for some time....
Anyway...

The same report for this game is here (for OPL 1357):
http://psx-scene.com/forums/f150/open-ps2-loader-bug-reports-65573/index52.html#post1219354,
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-game-bug-reports.19401/page-39#post-173288.

Latest rev with this game should work is 1319:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-game-bug-reports.19401/page-39#post-173407.

Ratchet & Clank - Up Your Arsenal
SCUS-97353
SHA-1 = B080139C5A94688EF9472B78D5F5585A756D1EE4

SMB = Black screen after orange borders debug color.

Can you also try rev 1319?
It should be this commit:
https://github.com/ifcaro/Open-PS2-Loader/commit/d062a18c49b7769e2da68ffb2aec5ce91a242d4c.

So it is rev 1357. ;)

Here might be something interesting.

Thanks to @Tupakaveli that provide me OPL 1355, it should be this commit:
https://github.com/ifcaro/Open-PS2-Loader/commit/71993a834db4481ba0ff2732a8f7b3209d332a87.
I'm able to pass 50\60 Hz selection screen in Shadow of the Colossus (SCES_533.26).
Unfortunately I can't pass:
Conflict - Global Storn (SLES_525.73), it hangs at Conflict logo and stays there.
Manhunt (SLES_520.23) BSOD after debug colors.

With OPL 1356\1357, it should be this commit:
https://github.com/ifcaro/Open-PS2-Loader/commit/cd100a2642d39aabb1a63b545d038008125c19b0.
After 50\60 Hz selection screen in Shadow of the Colossus (SCES_533.26) I'm getting BSOD.
Conflict - Global Storn (SLES_525.73) & Manhunt (SLES_520.23) seems to work.

BTW In about page, OPL 1355 will be named 1358, because of a 2 reverted commits.

Title = Buzz! The Big Quiz (Scandinavia)
ID = SCES-53926
Media = DVD-5
OPL version = Tried OPL 1580 Daily Build and v0.9.3
Device = Sata HDD with third-party adapter.
Mode(s) = Tried all modes without improvement. I think Mode 1 makes the problem slightly worse.
VMC = No
IGR = No
Compatible = Micro-stuttering sound.
MD5 Checksum = dfb65563cc189cccdf077af91f42fc47
Notes = Game is fully playable, but sound stutter is slightly annoying. Buzz! The Mega Quiz (SCES-54507) and Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz (SCES-54851) all have the same problem, while Buzz! The Music Quiz (SCES-53307) works fine.

Have you tried lowering the DMA?? Try MDMA 2 or lower, with and without MODE 2.

Yes, I tried setting MDMA to 0, but it seemed to make no difference. I was under the impression DMA settings didn't have any effect on SATA drives anyway.

EDIT: Sorry, I misremembered. I had tried UDMA 0, which did not work, but setting it to MDMA 0 actually seems to have fixed the problem. So it does have effect on a SATA drive after all, I suppose. Thanks a lot!

I've tried about a 100 games, and these were the only ones I noticed any problems with.

Nah, still confused. It turns out that SCES-53926, Buzz! The Big Quiz, actually just needs compatibility mode 1, accurate reads, in order to stop stuttering. The DMA setting has no effect, just as I assumed (because I have a SATA drive). These games are so similar that I keep mixing them up. :sem blush:

However, Buzz! The Mega Quiz (SCES-54507) and Buzz! The Hollywood Quiz (SCES-54851) will stutter no matter what I do. Still playable, though.

DMA settings affect SATA drives too. Usually lowering the DMA solve audio problems (and many others) but not always.
MODE 1 can solve these problems too, but I prefere to lower the DMA one step at a time until the problem is gone (so I can keep faster loadings. MODE 1 slow down the reading speed even below MDMA 0).

Well, even tho' it is o.k. to use different DMA-Modes for those who want faster loading-speeds, Mode1 actually should take care of those problematic games as well and there are some indicators that the in-game-stuff can't deliver it at the same speeds to the game.

DMA-Modes are a feature which is available, but should not be 'needed' to fix compatibility with games, so I ought to say (without techno-babble) that there is 'an issue'... leading to different behavior, even when it should work the same way on all or most of those games, which need a DMA-Mode to work properly, while still not working with the compatibility-modes alone...

Mode(s) = Tried all modes. I think some settings makes it load for about a second longer before the hang.

Notes = I tried several versions of this game, and they all seem to hang at the same screen

Try to provide reports for OPL builds (Ifcaro, currently latest build is 1368).
You can also try OPL builds (Ifcaro) and Daily Builds.
But I suggest not to use only Daily Builds.

Notes = I tried several versions of this game, and they all seem to hang at the same screen

You mean this screen:
Gitaroo-Man-crash.png

You can test OPL 1353, 1355 and 1357 from here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/open-ps2-loader-game-bug-reports.19401/page-40#post-195180.

Latest Beta (Ifcaro) builds are in here:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/open-ps2-loader-official-beta-releases.720/,
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/automated-daily-build-system-for-opl-wle-fceumm-ps2.702/.

From my test through SMB, OPL 1357\1368 is freezing in picture that I attach before.

While with 1355\1353 everything is fine.
No compatibility modes needed to be used to pass this screen.

Thanks for your test.

@Vedita BR, @Peppe90, @Petter can you try
at least one of these games with new OPL 1377:
  • Shadow the Colossus
  • Conflict - Global Storm
  • Manhunt
  • Gitaroo Man
These games should be now playable.

I confirm for Shadow of the Colossus and Conflict - Global Storm (both in PAL version). Conflict GS was broken since a long time I think (this is the first time I played the game on OPL) Great job! :encouragement:

What about other games, it is possible some got fixed (like Super DBZ)??
