OPL (Open PS2 Loader)

PS2 Open PS2 Loader v1.1.0

I merged your posts... Don't double-post! Edit your post instead!

You need to launch wLE somehow. How are you starting OPL in the first place?

I am so tired and exhausted....no matter what version of OPL I try here for 1.1.0 or in GitHub for 1.2.0 beta versions, I can load games fine but cannot for the love of me save on any memory card. Every single game I try tells me there is no memory card detected in my memory slot 1 or 2. Even created vmc on opl and still nothing.

I am using mx4sio to boot games and also USB drive. Don't know what else to do. I have a slim PS2 79001 model

Use BDM3 for now, if you want to use MX4SIO!
Does this apply to mc2sio as well?

Do you have a link to BDM3? The ones I tried earlier still would not work with saving. Almost versions would detect MX4SIO and load games (my bro has mc2sio but we have not tried his yet) but none of them would detect in game memory card and would allow me to save.

Thank you for your help so far.

A new test build (1871) with:
  • added ZSO code
  • sector cache
  • ZISO compressor
An original thread about roots of this test build can be found here:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/t...loader-with-zso-support-compressed-iso.37223/.

EDIT: 1875:
  • Fix release workflow
EDIT 2: 1901:
  • This replaces the usbd.irx driver with the usbd_mini driver.irx driver.
It's the same driver, but with resources trimmed down.
As a result this change saves over 42KiB of IOP RAM.
This improves game compatibility, and allows more games to use things like PADEMU and MCEMU that consume memory.
EDIT 3: 1917:
  • Try to make MCEMU/VMC compatible with MX4SIO
EDIT 4: 1922:
  • Use ioptrap, eesync

I'd have to make a Ps2 HDD (with FHDB and OPL) for a relative.
He's a child, and I'd want to keep OPL gui the clearest for him to understand (I'll make FHDB to start OPL at boot).

So, can I hex edit (with XVI32) OPL's HDD and APPS pages to "Giochi Ps2" and "Giochi Ps1"?? Could I somehow corrupt the elf?

I see two approach for child friendly setup.
  1. FHDB + HDD OSD + OPL-Launcher + OPL
  2. SoftDev2 +OPL
FHDB menu should be cleaner, i.e without uLE etc. (still can use "mass:/RESCUE.ELF") and all games preconfigured of course on OPL side.

Thank you for the advices. However I never even tried any HDD-OSD, so I prefer to stick on normal OPL, he wouldn't do any mess. I just thought to make things a little clearer having the pages renamed as I said (since on HDD page there will be the Ps2 games and on APPS page, a few Ps1/POPS games. Other pages will be disabled).

It is not much of a problem anyway, he'll quickly learn what pages correspond to.

I noticed that on APPS page the name's lenght must be quite short. It is possible to enlarge it as in the other pages?

I couldn't fit some game's names like Castlevania Symphony of the Night or Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back.
I have even longer names on Ps2 games without problems.

I recall when @sp193 was debugging the games, he was using a dev-kit (running some specific software I guess). I'm totally ignorant on the matter, so sorry for the eventual foolishness.
I was wondering if now, wich MechaPWN, it'd be possible to use also a retail Ps2 to debug games for OPL. Or perhaps there's need to some other component/hardware that's only present on a real dev-kit (some sort of separate debug station)?
