OpenTuna

PS2 OpenTuna - An open source version of "Fortuna", based on reverse engineering! v2.0.1

It installs OPL 1.0.0 and yes, you can change it.
It is located at mc0:/APPS/OPNPS2LD.ELF
Just delete it and paste a new OPNPS2LD.ELF there. Be sure to use the very same filename.

hello, I have using my 70006 create an opentuna MC and works great on my console, thanks for your effort.
And there is a question, I see "· icon_slims.cnf: For consoles with ROM versions from 1.90 to 2.30.", so does that mean the MC made by my 70006 can also be used on a 90006 console(bios 230). am I right?

Yes! An OpenTuna'd MemoryCard which is prepared for Slim PS2s can be used on any Slim!

thanks a lot for your reply. and recently I have tested more than 40 games by MX4SIO,is there some easy way to report the compatibility results?

can you use OpenTuna memory card for game saves?
Yes but I dont think it is a good idea, not only because of the issue mentioned above but it becomes a bit cumbersome to manage savefiles, you will always have to use uLaunchELF for doing this, because on the PS2 browser the opentuna will always be triggered with this memory card. If you take too long on the browser screen with the exploit active the console crashes.
Other thing is that I recommend keeping all apps and exploits on a specific memory card because they can take a significant amount of space. Keeping opentuna, OPL and uLaunchelf on the MC alone will take something around 3MB which is a lot.
To finish, there is a possibility on certain games to corrupt the Memory Card and if you dont have an exploitable console nearby, you are out of luck, most notably Jak X Combat Racing. It is infuriating to lose savefiles but I think it is even worse to lose them AND the exploits because you will have no way of restoring both the exploits and a backup if you made one.

Hi all. I managed to install open tuna to a memory card using a 7000x console and fmcb, in order to have it run on a 9000x. OPL works on both consoles using my open tuna memory card, but only shows my games list (usb) on the 70k console. I replaced OPL 1.0 with 1.1 (using the correct file name) and still no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Is there any chance to add some kind of a configurator?

I mean currently there are two apps that comes with this exploit.
OPL that will boot automatically after initializing OpenTuna (which I do not like).
wLe for which I have to press and hold :but cir: button after initializing OpenTuna.

I mean some users might like to revert this situation. To launch wLe automatically.
Some might want to add more shortcuts for e.g. Simple Media System, ESR r10f direct, GSM, etc.

Hello. I have tried OpenTuna on 3 Memory Card and it works very well but I have a MC without Magic Gate and it doesn't work there.
In that MC I already had the famous "no MagicGate" problem with FMCB. I was also never able to install Fortuna or Funtuna. The only way I've been able to use this MC to boot Ule is with DEV1 (mc0\boot\boot.elf) on a modchip console.
Is it real that Opentuna works with MCs that don't have Magicgate?

Yes, OpenTuna uses another entry-point which doesn't require the MemoryCard to support MagicGate.

If OpenTuna trying to launch FMCB then black screen came from modchip conflict. Clean OpenTuna shouldn't have problem with start, until You are using wrong version (version not designed to Yours firmware version and it is serious stuff because it can even kill memory card logic).

With that MC I tried to start OPL after returning 2 times with circle, and it gives me the black screen error. The same error gives me if I leave circle pressed the second time so that it starts in uLE. I tested this on a console without modchip and also tested it on a console with matrix 1.93. In this last one, I also tried to disable the modchip when turning on the console by pressing start button with the same error. That's why I thought the problem was because the MC doesn't have Magicgate.

Maybe card have bad blocks so data put on it is broken in the first place. Just guessing.

Magic Gate is mandatory only for OSD Update related stuff (like DVD-Player, FMCB etc.), because it is used in signing process. Nothing else using MG to anything.

Possible! Obviously I advise MCAv2 to format it.

True, but they are 2 seperate updates!!!
