OPL 1.0 possibly not seeing CFG files?

SCPH-39001, internal SATA HDD, Gamestar clone adapter, FHDB 1.966, OPL 1.0, JayJay's trans_bg theme.

I downloaded Tom Bruise's CFG file collection from https://github.com/Tom-Bruise/PS2-OPL-CFG-Database and put them in my HDD's hdd0:/+OPL/CFG folder, but I don't think OPL is actually seeing the files. Some games I tried, like Atelier Iris, still had to be configured manually, and none of them are showing descriptions or ratings in the Info page. Is there something else I need to do to make CFGs work, or do I maybe have them in the wrong place?

Games are detected by specific GameID. In example if game executable name is "SLUS_123.45", then OPL will seek "hdd0:/+OPL/CFG/SLUS_123.45.cfg" file for it. The same games but from different regions have different GameID. Maybe that's Your problem (game id is written on disc and disc case, i.e "SLUS-12345")?

I'm not sure that's it, but I'm still verifying.

I did notice something else. I put the whole mess of config files in the folder I mentioned in my previous post, but when I go to browse it in wLaunchELF, I can't see all of them: my listing stops at SCES_522.59.cfg, and it just never goes any further. Scrolling doesn't freeze or anything: the wLaunchELF file browser actually thinks this is the bottom of the list. That's why I can't yet be sure whether the files are there or not; I need to go about looking differently.

Is it possible that OPL can't see any files past this either? All of my games' IDs happen to be after the cut-off point, so if OPL can't see past it, that would certainly explain the problem.

That's also a good trace. There are ~12000 files in this repository. Maybe no one yet testing so many or maybe there is even some limit in PFS (native file system for PS2) specification and/or implementation.

The notes I'm finding on ext2 (which I know isn't the same as PFS, but it's my understanding that they're related) says I'm technically within limits, but also notes that there are severe performance issues when you get past 10,000 files, which I'm definitely over. So maybe I'm running into some kind of timeout.

Does OPL Manager have an easy way to pick out just the config files for the games I have, or will I need to do this manually?

You need to do it manuály. Open manager can only edit cfg files for games that you already háve on HDD. No sort or other things.

How much games do you have?

I would never recommend to use a CFG collection because:

- different set (HDD, NA, Ps2) can give different results
- OPL version matters (depending on the version you may or may not need to enable MODEs)
- Most games simply work with default settings on iHDD (UDMA 4 and all MODEs OFF)

Currently abiut 60, all PS2 (my TV doesn't support 240p, so I'm saving up for a Tink before I bother ripping my PS1 games). I went for the whole collection in the hopes of never having to worry about CFGs again after that, but, well, here we are.
