I installed Evialnats OC Firmware. I could see a noticeable difference in performance. Even PS2 games seemed more fluid and faster. I installed Modern Warfare 2 onto the HD, and it all worked just fine. It was only when I pressed the home button and tried to exit the game that the console returned a flashing red light with 3 beeps. After i installed Evilnat Pex without the OC and everything is fine. It runs TLOU, no issues, and no shutdowns. When I quit the game, it returns to the XMB with no issues.
I used PS3 Advanced Tools to get the error codes and was surprised to see the 1601 and 1701 error codes. I then played MW2 and pressed the home button to exit straight to the XMB, and it did so without creating the error.
So it seems the OC firmware can create a 1601 and 1701 error, codes I would normally associate with a failing RSX, but this console has only ever reported 10 error codes which where 1001 eight times and 2022 twice. Unit has no damage and was sealed prior to my referbishment.
Console works on Evilnat Pex, but on OC firmware, it seems it can shut down when asking the console to.quit a game and return to the XMB.
Has anyone else had any issues with OC firmware?
