After doing mechapwn to convert my NTSC unit to DEX, I wanted to test a PAL backup.

So I wasted 2 CD's but managed to get it right on 2nd initial try of using a patch.

Burn attempt #3:
.zap patched .bin using Zapper 2020 (not Zapper 2K)

Originally, before trying PAL4U2000 I was going to use ZAPPER2000 but I swept it under the rug for some reason and simply proceeded to use P4U2K. After that didn't yield the outcome I wanted, I did some Google searching and found a 2020 revamp of the really old ZAPPER2K. I don't know if the original version would give the same result but this new re-skin did a pretty spot-on job.

TINY GUIDE FOR ZAPPER2020 (PAL > NTSC)
  1. Search! for the PAL PS1 .bin (that has bad y-position on your TV)
  2. Set as "PAL > NTSC" and let Zapper analyze it
  3. Save the .zap file in same folder as analyzed .bin
  4. Now click "Apply ZAP" and merge it with the .bin
  5. Good to go! test it from USB first or burnt disc, whichever!
If burning bin&cue, you may want to remove the .zap if it is in same directory.

Do you have any information on what the y-position numbers actually do? I have found next to no info on this. I've been trying to patch Ghoul Panic. With 0 & 0, part of the in-game UI is cut off at the bottom. The program recommends using 21 & 21 if the screen is too low. I did this, and it made the screen even lower, cutting off the bottom further. I experimented further. 40 & 40 makes it cut off even more. 0 & 1 made it cut off the slightest bit more than 0 & 0. so i assumed, negative numbers might make it go up? i tried -10 & -10, this made it so the game was barely visible at all. The top portion of the game was visible as a small horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. Trying 0 & -1 made it so the screen was entirely black. I really would love to get this game working in english on real hardware. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.
