Pinky’s PS3 Tutorials

I found something somewhat interesting. I didn't know this before, but if you bridge the LAN and wifi connections to create a network bridge, you can actually remove the wifi from the bridge having a single connection connected to the bridge. you'll still be able to connect to your ps3 with an ethernet cable in order to transfer over large files. :) I'm sure everyone already knows this, but I just found this out while backing up the ps3's internal hdd. the normal backup method is too slow and clunky. :-P

What does this do? I just use ICS and turn off the sharing if I don't want the ps3 to have internet but still be connected for ftp. Windows is pretty terrible at creating / managing bridges.

you're right! bridging connections seems to be unstable with windows 10. you can bridge connections, and even if it fails, you can still maintain a connection with the ps3. this is even true if you remove the wifi from the bridge.

But what do you get out of doing it that way which ICS doesn't do?

Step 1: Download this rar file (contains simplyzip, HxD, notepad++, all of my .DDS files, Wave Settings, proc_iridescent.tga, fre~.tga, the first characters of the 4.46 hex, and a 0'd out positioning red and white wave with added length, spacing, and speed along with a decompressed lines files for easy modification). Install all applicable files if you do not have them. Also, you might want to install Photoshop as well.

Code:
[mediafire link]

Found this thread after hearing you say had a tutorial on how to do custom waves. Unfortunately this file quoted above is an "invalid or deleted file"... Would you happen to have a new link handy?

I already have 7-Zip (which I hope I can use instead of simplyzip), HxD and Notepad++... Do I need the other files, or are they just there for convenience?

Also, I have two custom lines files that are more or less exactly what I want, except mismatched a little. One has the color(s) I want, the other has the shape. I'm planning on attempting to make a hybrid of the two.

EDIT: Before I forget, thank you for your tutorials-- I have them bookmarked now for future reference :)

I've corrected it. I'm not sure how that happened. lol

btw, @andoryuu3 , you only need the executables . the other files are just examples or extracted images to show you what the images look like. 7-zip won't work since you need an app that can compress/decompress zlib.

hey i cant get theme builder to work wont build theme wont test drive could u plzz send me 2 a place where i can dl working one or what am i doing wrong

you may have corrupted the rco. I've seen a white box appear next to the coldboot by modifying the coldboot script in the custom_render_plugin.rco. I've also seen an image extend over other images with the impose_plugin.rco. that one caused blinking white boxes. I'd say reinstall the firmware or replace the files and try again.

yes i have last week when making gameboot it make white bar but then i change the file and it work so is there any method to extract rco and modify them and rebuild theme properly what thing that cause the white things ?

not sure what could be causing that. rco mage might be the best option. I don't think it creates them correctly though, but it's good enough for the system.

the image file of yours may have been the wrong size. this happened with the impose plugin at least, but in that case, it was an image within an image (battery indicator). all images appeared as white blinking blocks though. I don't think this matters with the custom_render_plugin though since image files will likely be much larger than the original.

for now i just edit the epilsey boot message without changing any image i just edit english and french text and repack rco with rcomage gui v1.1.1
