pkg install with ntfs?

I think it is only possible trough multiMAN because ps3 don't have native support for ntfs and it is only possible to read thoose trough some tipe of homebrew, don't know if webman plugin supports pkg instalation with ntfs, but you better wait for someone that knows better since i never used ntfs.

I believe TheDemon is right, in multiMAN if you view the content of the NTFS drive using the PFS driver and double click on it in mmOS/file manager it will transfer it to internal and then mount it to be installed from ★Install Package Files/ ★Package Manager

Too much double handling is not ideal. I reckon I may be better off trying to convert my psn pkgs to iso if possible. I will have to research later when I have more time. If you guys can point me in the right direction that'd be cool.

not all PSN pgk games work as ISOs

If you want i can upload my file custom extra install disk, you just need to load it as if it was game and install the pkg.

i like to have my pkg organized trough that, see this picture

honestly either way your gonna be double handling, its either tranfer to ntfs and then transfer to ps3 to install like bitsbubba said, or its transfer them to iso, then transfer them to ntfs drive and install them.

its just however you want to do it. ;)

imma write a script in a few days to create an iso with all pkgs that you put in the root dir of the script. that will clean up folders and stuff as well and you can easily mount it with webman or multiman. and could split the iso for fat32 and all that good stuff

Iris has offered this for a while now. I do it with IRISMAN all the time. Just use the file manager.

iris will build an iso with all pkg files?

i used idc folder structure but i have expanded the 6 pkg limit for their gui. the only thing i am trying to over come is extracting the icon0.png from pkg. other than that i am done with my script just about ;)

You might have a look at my approch(es) to this... i've implemented it in latest version of PS3 GAME UPDATER. It uses other methode(s) as IDC does.
It overcomes the game icon problem in getting the icon from game-folders/ISOs while scanning single game/game-archive.

Tell me what you think.

IMHO the easier method to install a large package from a NTFS disk is mounting the folder containing the .pkg files as /dev_bdvd with ps3netsvr.

yes but i am learning ;)

btu i am done. but i hit a wall. i can copy all pkgs to one dir, then run my script. and foreach pkg file, it creates PS3_EXTRA/D000 D001 D002 ect ect. and inside each of these folders, i am able to copy the pkg file and rename it to "DATA000.PKG", extract from pkg and copy ICON0.PNG to PS3_EXTRA/D000 and then rename it to ICON2.PNG, and then copy a template PARAM.SFX and modify it correctly as well. i even made an iso and it works great serving it from netsrv.

the brick wall i have hit is, it seems you can only create an iso with only 9 pkgs <.<

they all install fine and launch fine. but i cant get more than 9 to show on xmb ;L
aldostools have you ever tried making one with this many or more?

but yeah, this script is neat, you just copy the pkg files you want converted to the directory that he script is in and run it. completely automated.

EDIT: NVM i figured out what the problem is. now i got 12 packages showing and they all install fine :) was param.sfx that wasnt right for anything over "pkg9". "pkg10" would overwrite an '<' and corrupt the sfx.

done and done. anyone wanna try it ;)
