Hello everyone! I have a compatible PlayStation 3 Fat (being the oldest) with all CFWs. I have now installed HFW 4.90. I would like to downgrade to an OFW version of less than 3.00. I've been at work for several days watching various tutorials without a damn conclusion... how can I do?? I already thank those who will answer me!

Make sure QA flags are on.

Install the 9.99 Downgrader.

Install 3.00 OFW.

NO, DON'T USE THE 9.99 Downgrader.

Just enable the QA Flags and install any FW version your console is capable of (use minVerCheck to find out which is the lowest FW version that you can install).

Everytime I've used it, it's been fine. Every OTHER recorded method hasn't worked. The Rogero and Rebug Downgraders are the ONLY way I've been able to downgrade my console.

What works for some might not work for all.

It's problematic to use that downgrader. Here are some threads about people being stuck after using it:

With QA Flags it's enough to install any FW, from System Update or Recovery Menu.

Like I've said, never had an issue since the Geohot Update was introduced.

I've lost count at the amount of data I've used downloading Firmware to have it not install or be corrupted.

But............. The downgraders ALWAYS work as they should, and then it lets me install my firmware of choice.

Install Evilnat 4.90 CFW, enable QA flag (can be done directly from the custom firmware tools menu) then install any firmware of your choice.
If it doesn't work, try installing 3.55 based CFW, enabling QA flag again then downgrading to 1.xx

Hi everyone!

I don't know why but I tried downloading the CFW 4.90 from different sources but unfortunately it won't let me install it. It gives me an error saying "the data is corrupted".

Right now my Playstation 3 version is HFW 4.90 with no Hen.

How can I install CFW or convert HFW to CFW?..

Hi everyone, I have an update!
I managed to install CFW 4.90 Evilnat. I have enabled QA Flags and activated system update debug.

I downloaded the firmware that I would like to install on the console (2.50) but unfortunately, during the installation, it recognizes the firmware but, having reached about 60%, it tells me that ''the data type is not supported (80029C9C).

How can I finally install a firmware below 3.00?...

Install an old 3.55 CFW, QA flag again (you will need a homebrew tool for that cause I don't think they had it baked into the firmware options back then), then install an even older firmware.

I managed to install CFW version 3.55.

I'm trying to downgrade to version 2.80.

I enabled the QA Flags and in the Debug settings I activated the option to update but unfortunately it keeps giving me the same error...

You just need to bypass the old revoked keys. In order to do that, you must downgrade to CFW 3.55. I suggest you Rebug 3.55.4 REX (MIRROR).

I'm not sure if the QA Flags are still going to be set once you are on CFW 3.55. To check if they are, install FW 2.50 as usual.

If you come across another error, install Glevand's QA Flag Extra PKG. Run qa_flag (It will show up as this on XMB), you should hear the beeps. If so, reboot your console and go into recovery menu and update with FW 2.50.

EDIT: according to this post by Pinky, you can not downgrade via recovery menu with FW below 2.70.

that might work. I found this on psdevwiki: Lowest version that can be copied to updaterfolder on harddisk is 2.70 (no limit when using e.g. ftp, although versions below 2.70 cannot be used for reinstallment).

Try installing FW 2.50 as debug update ("/dev_hdd0/updater/00/*.pup").

I did everything you told me but still with the same error: data type is not supported (80029C9C).

I really don't know how to do...

I tried but it says no data found.

Also the debug update option doesn't let me select it.

What do you mean "debug update option doesn't let me select it"?. Is the FW 2.50 PUP correct?, do the MD5 check matches with the ones on the PS3DevWiki?.

I checked with md5 checker and its the same.

I tried to transfer the update to the playstation 3 HDD but to no avail, it keeps giving the same error...

I can't figure out why it won't let me downgrade...
