The consumer PS5 console has now been revealed by Sony, here is the trailer:

I personally think this looks quite good, nice stylish clean lines, possibly the best design chassis they have done so far.

First accurate comparison pics of the two, sorry for the bad quality on the actual console, I tried to touch it up but there's no official transparent image I can use yet for obvious reasons

I'm more interested though in the functional design, I hope the veterans here can shed some light on it.

This just popped up on my Facebook feed about 1 hour ago, so I haven't done much digging yet.

But looking at the case and its form factor, typically speaking these types of case are complete sh!te when it comes to airflow and thermals. Even when its designed for this type of case, there is not a lot of room for air to move.

My best guess is that this would be designed for a High Positive pressure inside the case, very similar to small form factor [SFX] PCs, in fact this is the best way to setup things like this anyways. Which is defo needed as well as SSD's and PCIe NVMe SSDs put off a ton of heat as well which can kill them quicker, which is why high performance NVMe SSD's now have their own heatsink or the MB has one for it if you have a full cover MB.

This helps greatly with temps but also with dust build up inside. Also the fact the CPU is based closely on Zen2 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 [ based on core count and clocks but without Hyper-threading or its based on the Ryzen 3 w/ Hyperthreading ] the TDP would not be too bad [65w based on the Desktop R7 variant] so thermals shouldn't be too bad either also these chips have a high thermal thresh hold anyways 105*C before thermal throttling, its really just a custom version of this CPU made for the PS5 so we can make some reasonable guess work.

This is just some guess work based on whats out there and what is to be released soon, as I said I have not done much digging on this.

[EDIT: The CPU would be a down clocked Zen2 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 [or Ryzen 3 based if the CPU has hyper-threading] so thermals and TDP would be slightly better again, in theory anyways]

The Console looks dope ngl, although the price is worrisome, recent Amazon leaked Placeholder states 599€ for the 2TB variant, perhaps they'll have a 1TB entry for 499,although it would be a drop if they announced at 349 the digital and 399 the full package, although realistically expect a 500 price tag.

1TB is meant to be the base storage size, there's no way am paying that price for a 2TB PS5,

I would rather get the supposed 1 TB base model and stick one of my spare 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs in it to make it 2TB lol.

But yep, I do like the styling of the case, best one yet.... and all those people saying the Dev Kit was going to be the same as the retail for styling lol, the Dev kits have never looked like the retail version before the retail was revealed or launched, not once lmao....

To me there is no contest which one looks better. The X-Box Series X just looks like they stuffed it into a current SFX PC case with a little bit of customisation tbh...

If the PS5 comes separately it will cost lower, but if it comes with the 3D headset and the HD camera the price will be i think up too 599$. But my predict is it will cost 499$.

Futuristic look have XSX, this one is just router, vacuum cleaner or just any other random Chinese cheap sh*t. Sorry. :P
I'm waiting for second hardware revision, maybe they will change the looks...

And about games: for me only interesting is Kena:BoS and Ratchet & Clank: RA and maybe Horizon 2 plus this title from Dishonored authors (forgot the name). Everything else is just horrible, including Sackboy with isometric view.

This show is just disappointing as hell to me.

I liked the design, and I was surprised to see they're releasing a no-drive (digital) version from day 1. Still, if I had to pick, I'll go with the full (non-digital) one.

in any case I won't be buying it this season, as it seems it will be pricey. Also, I have my PS4/Pro in glacier white (with matching controllers) so probably I'll try to get the PS5 in some different color when they start to release other versions.

As long as the price sticks under 500 quid, ill jump the ship with the PS5, Sony knows the flak they got in 06 with the PS3, pricing it at 599, although 400 like the PS4 would be more wallet friendly, and sell better, but is up to them, but honest opinion 600 is a minefield, even 500 is a stretch for a console.

anyone else think the system looks like a vagina?

Cheers for that....... Now I cannot un-see it now LMAO....though the "slot" is in the wrong place... I wouldn't be sticking my "optical Media" in something with the "slot" in the wrong place... o_O:eek::-p:D

The V shape I expect is something brought forward from the V shape of the Dev Kit which is what I first saw, now... thanks to your slightly dirty mind all I see is a new take on PS5, which is now not " PlayStation 5 " but now the " P**syStation 5 ".......LMAO.....

Yeah at 600 it is pushing a half decent PC rig price that would be better than the PS5, 500 is the max I would pay for the PS5 w/ a UHD optical BD drive for the PS exclusive games only really... I mainly play games on PC now anyways for most things and now that the only XB games I used to play > Halo, Gears of War etc are now on PC so no need for a crappy XB.

@Cypher_CG89 , there's several prank calls to microsoft on youtube in which the person claims to have gotten their thing stuck in the disc tray of the 360. it's some funny stuff especially when the customer rep says to push the eject button and the guy screams out like it's causing him pain. lol

Pranks..? yeah right, more like they were watching too much techporn and got carried away with themselves and made it sound like a prank call... why do you think they got rid of the disc tray...? lol o_O:-p:D
