The middle-gen console (ps4 pro) it's been a false move imho. Many people bought the Ps4 when the price have gone down a little and after a few months the Ps4 Pro was out (at the same price of a launch Ps4. And at the same time base Ps4 price dropped). People felt teased.
The good of consoles is always been to buy one machine and be ok for the whole gen, with games always perfectly optimized, so there's a point on buying the console at launch (at the highest price, with few games and probably bugs and limits that will be solved afterwards. But it could make sense if you're good until the next gen).
Plus mid-gen consoles are bad not only for who bought the base console (that has to play technically worse versions of the games) but for Pro consoles owners too, 'cause game developers have limited margins in game's graphic foundations since they've to make them run on base consoles too.
I think some people will hold up on buying it al launch for this reason (waiting a Ps5 Pro that will likely come out in 2/3 years and will cost the same as normal Ps5 at launch).
However most people will probably just buy it immediately owned by the hype.
