Playstation problems got weird.

Hi,

So weird thing happened to me today. I was playing a game (Radikal Bikers, so bad... but nostalgia) I knew I had a very old save on some memory card. I found that memory card but, for some reason, my playstation 2 did not recognize it. Since I have a new spare one, I decided to give a try with my old original playstation 1, to check the memory card there e see if I could get the files from that old one to the new one, and play on the playstation 2 (since m psx does not read cd's anymore).

When I turned my psx on the controller did not work. This is the main controller I've always used with that system, and my second to go with the playstation 2. The controller works with the playstation 2 without any problem... but not in the original system it came with. Even weirder, all the other controllers I have worked with the psx. Only that one is not working and I can't imagine why!

Nevertheless, the memory card actually worked in the original system. So I could transfer the files I wanted there to a new one. But the fact that the controller does not work with it's original system is driving me crazy. It doesn't make any sense.

What the hell is happening with my playstation? I really want to fix it and give it some runs, but without the controller it doesn't seem right.

It might be something as simple as bad contact between the controller and the original system. The PS2 controller port might make a better electrical connection. Did you try using this controller that wouldn't work only on Port 1? Try using it in Port 2. Another thing to try after that would be to get some electrical contact cleaner to spray into the controller's connector. Just be sure it all dries up or is wiped up before plugging it in again.
