Hi. I have a 4.75 not jailbroken ps3. I have downloaded the ferrox CFW for my version but when i plugged the hardrive into my ps3 it said no applicable date found. So i changed the name of the FERROX to PS3UPDAT and it detected it and in 72% of the install it said data corrupted. can somebody help me like skype me or somot. Please i just wanna jailbreak my ps3 guys :D

Welcome on forum, first thing you need to downgrade your console to 3.55 firmware using hardware flasher. Also not every PS3 can be downgraded.

yeah, u don't need to downgrade to 3.55 to install cfw. that's only if u were going to install cfw from the xmb/recovery menu. u have access to the flash chip, so u can install other firmware as long as u have bootldr 1 on ur console. 3.56 base firmware is also sometimes hackable if the aforementioned is true. not all r hackable though. u can determine which can be based on the date code.

edit: oh, and 3.56 will require a flasher no matter what.
 
Yes you don't need downgrade in that way like before but to keep things more noob friendly i still keep downgrade term. This word is similiar to using flasher, people known and understand that term. For me (remember that my english is not perfect) is easier to explain that you can't downgrade instead that you can't patch you current firmware. People think downgrade is more "hard" thing that patch something. This word have more power than patch :0 ... But people that know how to use flasher know that don't need go to 3.55. Anyway almost all tuts still provide you thru old 3.55 downgrader way.
 
English isn't ur native tongue? I would never have guessed, 'cause ur English is quite good.

I meant no disrespect by that comment. I remember "updating using a flasher" didn't exist once the e3 flasher was released. when news of being able to do as such hit the scene, there was a lot of confusion in that many thought u could update to cfw from higher firmware if the patches had been made or that 3xxx (think it was out at the time) could install cfw.

Good to hear that, my native language is Polish, funny thing that most valuable part in learning English for me wasn't school. My best two teachers was NES (sadly clone) and PSX. :)
 
learning a new language is always easiest when you're learning it by doing something u enjoy rather than remembering grammar, vocab, etc. in school. :)
