PS2 POPStarter 2019/06/05

I just tested it with WIP 02, same result.

It really seems to be a issue related to some particular camera frame or Boss animation. For example using Quina's "Limit Globe" (I think it's Limit Glove in english version) makes the game to freeze every time. It freezes when the camera frames the Boss.

Try the game using the internal HDD and not by USB.
Try using all the compatibility modes one by one, and then combined.

Best regards.

Just found out that Quina's Limit Globe (as some other particular attacks from pgs or enemies) always make the game to freeze the console, also on random battles.

My sister is playing on a Ps2 slim...
I think the issue is related to the audio hiccups (that occurs due to some lag the emulator has when changing screens, entering menu, loading battles moves, etc...). Those hiccups are impossible to solve with any mode.

FF9 has mode 0x04 enabled by default since WIP 02 (or maybe even before). Anyway i'll try also mode 5 and the first 3 (I know they can't sove the hiccups, but let's hope they'll manage to prevent the freezing in some way).

Otherwise I'll give it a try using SMB.

Here an example:

My sister said she think she used that attack before. Btw we're not 100% sure, maybe she's confusing it with some other ability, i don't know if it can be that the problem arise only from a certain point of the game onward.

MODEs can't solve it. I tried also some BIOS without success.

That's a shame. Why doesn't krHACKen release the source code so other people can work on it? It's better than doing nothing with the code, and it requires little effort by the original programmer.

Could You tell me more about those TROJANs? I know they are patches but I don't understand why they have numbers like i.e TROJAN6, TROJAN7 etc. And what I need if i.e I have already last POPStarter release? What updates are latest?

Ooooufff... You should look at the PS2-Scene-Discord you joined a while ago. It's all explained in #emulation in the Pins.

In case you are wondering, numbers in TROJAN files names are not versioning. These are just generic names (or "placeholders", can't find a better name) for whatever patches you want, from TROJAN_0.BIN up to TROJAN_9.BIN if I remember correctly. Same for the PATCH_#.BIN files.
Be aware that POPStarter will refuse to load the PATCH/TROJAN file if the number in its filename doesn't match the number in its header so you need to also hexedit the file in case you want to rename a file.

If you use 2019/06/05 version, you most likely doesn't need anything more.

Ok, so those TROJANs are per game patches or configs telling POPStarter what options use and what doesn't?
