PS3 Possible way to make the Ps3 read a HDD larger than 2TB?

That's not how file systems works. You will need to have the kernel source code and modify all the file system logic in order to allow larger drives.

Please forgive my ignorance. How does Seagate's Beyond 2TB work on a PC with MBR partition scheme?

Seagate's software just creates a new partition after the maximum partition size in a MBR drive. It's only a workaround, not a solution nor a feature.

PS3's OS is not prepared to work with more than 1TB drives (because GameOS was never designed with large drives in mind). After that limit, the PS3 starts acting funny and could potentially corrupt the data (there are multiple reports from users).

Thank you for the response.
I've been running a 1.5TB HDD in my Ps3 since they were first available and I haven't had any problems.

Interesting. I haven't experienced any data loss or corruption but I will keep that in mind. I always keep a backup just in case. Data loss is not as much of a problem now that I have installed CFW and have my digital only PSN games backed up. I even backed up my Playstation Home data and gave it to Home Headquarters on Discord.

If anybody is interested, the hard drive I'm using is an HGST HTS541515A9E630
